Congratulations are in order for Shannon Miller and John Falconetti.
The seven-time Olympic medal gymnast and husband are expecting their second child this summer following a battle with ovarian cancer, Miller, 35, announced on her website Monday.
The Olympic mom and husband are already parents to son Rocco, 3.
“Things were going fantastic with the launch of my company … my foundation was growing and we hoped our family would expand as well. Then my world stopped. Instead of calling my parents to tell them they had another grandchild on the way, I was calling to tell them I may have cancer. Our baby plans were put on hold indefinitely,” Miller, who was diagnosed with a malignant germ cell tumor (a form of ovarian cancer) in January of 2011, writes.
She added: “I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to do some amazing things in my life, but being a mom is second to none.”
In April 2012, Miller opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about leaving the possibility of baby No. 2 “in God’s hands.”
“In July, I’ll find out the status of having another child,” she shared. “After surgery and chemo I was still given an 85% chance of having children. John and I have done our best to leave it in God’s hands and remain very thankful to have such a wonderful little boy.”
