Nicole Sullivan: Celebrity Moms Lie About Their Baby Weight

Disney's "Let It Shine" - Los Angeles Premiere

Slipping back into their skinny jeans within weeks of giving birth, some celebrity moms make losing those pregnancy pounds look easy. Actress Nicole Sullivan isn’t buying it, though.

“I would flip through celeb magazines… and I just couldn’t get how these moms like Jessica Alba lost so much weight so quickly—and yet I couldn’t,” she tells US Weekly. “They all lie and say, ‘Oh, I lost the weight running after the kids or breastfeeding.’ It’s not true!”

“I felt broken. I felt like an outsider in my own community,” adds Nicole, who is mom to sons Dashel, 5, and Beckett, 3. “There just are not a lot of overweight people in Hollywood. I felt like the jerk who couldn’t figure it out.”

Eventually signing on as the famous face of Jenny Craig, the funny mom went on to lose 35 pounds. “It changed my life,” she says.

When it came time for baby #2, Nicole was much more prepared to deal with the pressure to lose the weight.

“When I look back to when I had my first son, I was unhappy. I couldn’t understand why the weight wasn’t just falling off. I wish I could have that time back. With my second son, I enjoyed the whole process of him being an infant more because I wasn’t mad at myself. When you are mad at yourself, you are mad at everybody. That’s the problem…. I may not look like [Alba], but at least I can keep up with other actresses now. I feel really good about myself.”

Ugh… Women NEED to understand that:
    1) our bodies are all totally different, some gain weight with pregnancy, and yes, some lose. I lost most of my boobs for instance :(
    2) comparing yourself to the 1% of genetic freaks like Giselle or J.Alba will only make you feel worse.
This bitterness towards other women’s bodies is getting so old and so immature.

Wow. I used to have so much respect for her. Loved her since MadTV. But what the hell is this?

For some of us, we DO watch what we eat; we DO just gain 20 pounds; we DO continue exercise, pilates, yoga; the weight DOES just fall off; breastfeeding DOES shrink the uterus quickly; running after the kids DOES keep us active and thin.

This article is as disgusting as people who think that EVERYONE should lose the weight in 4 weeks.

    Gross, Nicole. Simply gross.

As someone already said, everybody is different — some lose quickly and easily, others don’t. Doesn’t mean there is a conspiracy theory or that people are lying. GMAB!!!!

What a bitch. Yes, Nicole, it IS that easy. Watch what you eat, don’t eat 1,000 more calories a day, work out as you did, and oh, yeah, quit comparing your body to girls much younger than yourself with faster metabolisms. Or quit having kids and bitching about the weight gain.
