Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard recently held his 4th Annual “Big Fighters, Big Cause” Charity Fight Night to benefit The Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation in its support of juvenile diabetes research. Held on the Santa Monica pier, the event had many star parents in attendance, including father-of-two Usher.
At the event, guests enjoyed live boxing matches and engaged in a silent charitable auction. They also noshed on Sushi Popper‘s delectable sushi rolls and indulged in Sweet Insanity Bake Shop‘s tasty macaroons.
Celebrity Baby Scoop spoke to Sugar Ray Leonard about why the “Big Fighters, Big Cause” Charity Fight Night is so important to him.
“This is so wonderful,” the world-renowned boxer shared. “My friends are coming through and we are raising donations for a good cause. This event is very special to me.”
The father-of-four also chatted about his summer plans.
“I plan to get a lot of rest,” he said. “I just got in from Chicago and I need rest.”
He also revealed that his children and grandchildren are a major inspiration for his fight against juvenile diabetes.
“I have four kids and five grandchildren. I am fighting against juvenile diabetes because first and foremost, I am a parent,” Leonard shared. “I am a father who’s concerned about our kids’ health and I am also a friend. I’ve heard horrible stories and I’ve seen horrible scenarios about diabetes’ destruction. I am looking forward to a way to eradicate diabetes once and for all so it doesn’t affect our kids.”
