Heidi Klum isn’t one to let anything go to waste — not even her boys’ hair trimmings. Proving she’s able to out reuse and recycle nearly all of us, the model mom told YourTango about an interesting art project her sons recently helped create in more ways than one.
“So two of my boys, they have big afros, and when I shaved them all down, I kept all the hair and I put it in a Ziploc bag,” Heidi Klum shared when asked about art projects the kids do at home. “I keep everything!”
“But then, I waited and I’m like, ‘I don’t know what I’m gonna do with this.’ It was so beautiful, this whole bag of afro: one for Henry, one for Johan,” the 40-year-old mother of four said of her 7 and 6-year-old boys, who were born during her marriage to Seal.
“The next time they painted their faces, I glued all their hair around it, so it was like this three-dimensional painting,” she added. “It’s their face! And Henry was always a bit more blonde, like the tips are really blonde, and Johan’s more dark. So you can see, this one looks like Henry and this one looks like Johan. It’s so pretty.”
Points to Heidi Klum for creativity, and I’ll admit to having a tiny lock of each of my boys’ hair from their first haircut, but I firmly believe it’s all right to let some things go!
From umbilical cord creations, to bracelets made of baby teeth and placentas sitting in the freezer for years, I can’t say I understand the desire to hold onto things our body has shed. Is someone soon going to confess to keeping all of their little one’s fingernail clippings? I hope not, but it honestly wouldn’t surprise me.
