Usher’s Son Hospitalized After Pool Accident

The custody battle between R&B superstar Usher and ex-wife Tameka Foster continues.

The couple is deadlocked in mediation, and the biggest bone of contention is Usher's Georgia mansion, TMZ reports. Tameka is currently living in the house, but under the divorce settlement Usher can sell the property at any time as long as he gives her 2-months notice.

Usher‘s 5-year-old son is currently in the hospital, PEOPLE reports.

Usher Raymond V, the singer’s elder son with his ex-wife Tameka Foster, was rushed to the hospital on Monday after a pool accident at the popstar’s Atlanta home.

TMZ first reported the news, stating that Usher’s son attempted to retrieve a toy in a pool drain when his arm got stuck. Reportedly, the boy’s aunt and a maid tried unsuccessfully to rescue him.

Thankfully, two male employees working inside the home eventually freed the boy, who was given CPR and then rushed to an Atlanta-area hospital, where Usher and Tameka are at his side.

“Tameka got a call from one of Usher’s staff members and rushed to the hospital,” a source says. “She almost collapsed when she heard the news.”

Last July, the family suffered a tragedy when Tameka’s 11-year-old son Kile died after being struck by a jet ski.

“She’s still not over Kile, and now this happens,” the source says of Tameka. “She is not going to leave his side now. … We’re all lifting him up in prayer.”

Usher and Tameka are also parents to 4-year-old son Naviyd Ely.

I couldn’t believe all the negative comments on some websites about this. His aunt was swimming with him (according to other news sources) and everyone was saying that Usher is irresponsible for not keeping an eye on his kids. My heart aches for the adults that had to witness this and I thank god they were there for him. My heart goes out to this family. I’m so happy he is going to be ok (again, read in other news sources). Another important reason we should all know CPR! I’m looking into a class today.

Yeah, truth is incidents do happen and kids are often a bit reckless and go get hurt. Adults are there to watch them, but sometimes kids just do whatever they want and hurt themselves without it being anybody’s fault.

A kid I know when he was three fell with his mouth on a chair and one of his upper teeth got stuck inside his gingiva. In the end it wasn’t bad, he’s been taken care of and just had to have his tooth removed much sooner than normal, but that is to say that as much careful as you are, kids do run and fall, and have little accidents. Let’s just try to avoid serious things!

WOW…What are the odds? Two extremely rare accidents happening to your children. Scary! I hope he recovers fully. Can’t even imagine.

Why would the idiot aunt let a 5 year old swim to the drain to retrieve a toy? What a moron. I wouldn’t let her anywhere near those kids again.
