Monica & Shannon Brown Welcome Daughter: Laiyah

Congratulations to Monica and Shannon Brown.

The R&B singer, 32, and her NBA player husband, 27, welcomed their first child together, daughter Laiyah Brown, on Tuesday, September 3. Family friend Vanessa Bryant announced the happy news via Instagram.

“I am so honored to announce that baby Laiyah Brown has arrived! Mommy and baby are healthy and well,” Bryant, the wife of Los Angeles Lakers player Kobe Bryant wrote. “Congratulations @shannonbrown26 and @monicamylife! We love you guys and we can’t wait to meet Laiyah! #6lbs 9/3/13.”

The Boy Is Mine singer and Phoenix Suns player were wed in November 2010.

Monica is also mom to sons Rocko, 7, and Romelo, 5, with her ex, rapper Rodney “Rocko” Hill. And Brown has a son, Shannon Christopher, from a previous relationship.

On Thursday, Brown posted the first photo of their newborn via Instagram. “Daddys girl ‘Laiyah,’ he captioned the shot. “THANK GOD for her!!! JOY has been restored in my LIFE!!!”
