Mark Wahlberg & Michael: Toy Shoppers

Mark Wahlberg and Michael go Toy Shopping

Mark Wahlberg and his son Michael, 6, were spotted leaving Tom’s Toys with their bag of purchases in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Wednesday (November 13).

The actor was at the Lone Survivor premiere at the AFT Fest on Tuesday night when he started a surprising monologue after being asked about his rigorous training and the rough shoot.

According to Entertainment Weekly he said, “For actors to sit there and talk about ‘oh I went to SEAL training’? I don’t give a f-ck what you did. You don’t do what these guys did. For somebody to sit there and say my job was as difficult as being in the military? How f-cking dare you, while you sit in a makeup chair for two hours.”

That comment prompted media outlets to believe he was referring to Tom Cruise’s misunderstood statement on comparing acting to fighting in a a war.

TMZ stopped Wahlberg on Wednesday to ask if he made the comments at the screening at the expense of Tom Cruise.

“I didn’t know that it was Tom Cruise who had said that,” Wahlberg said. “Somebody had just mentioned that people were comparing [acting and being in the military]. I love Tom Cruise. He’s a great actor. I have the utmost respect for Tom Cruise, but I have the utmost respect for military guys; it’s just unfair for anybody to comment on that.”

When I was listening to the radio yesterday and heard what Mark Wahlberg had said to whoever that may have been in response to, a huge smile came across my face. For someone to compare being an actor to being in the military is incredibly disrespectful and a huge slap in the face to anyone and everyone who is currently or who has ever served their country. I now feel the need to go out of my way to say some special ‘thank you’s today’.
