Kate Winslet “Baffled” By Public’s Criticism

Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet covers the February issue of Glamour U.K. and opens up about her newborn son Bear, and happy family life wife new husband Ned Rocknroll and her older children: Mia, 13, and Joe, 10.

On using her surname while naming Bear: “We haven’t ever really had that conversation; it was always going to have my name. Of course we’re not going to call it Rocknroll. People might judge all they like, but I’m a f—— grown-up. Mia and Joe have it as part of their name, so it would be weird if this baby didn’t.”

On the public’s criticism of having a third baby with a third husband: “No one has a right to comment on anyone’s life or the choices I do or don’t make. It’s very easy to be judgmental until you know someone’s truth. People have no idea at all. It baffles me, truly, that you can publicly treat a person like that. It’s not very nice. I’m really sorry to the nation’s press that I fell in love and got pregnant; I do apologize if you deem that irresponsible.”

On her children’s inspiration for her role in Labor Day: “[It's] a part I could not have played had I not been a parent. Ultimately, I was drawn to it because it’s a film about the desire for a family — and family has played such a role in my life.”

On her life: “The reality is I absolutely love my little life … I trundle along; we have friends over; I make dinner. Sure, I could have lots of people who do the cooking, the driving, all that jazz — but I would be unhappy. I wouldn’t want my children raised that way.”

On her post-baby body: “Having just had a baby, I’m not going to be thinking about my arse.”

On her newborn: “All our families are so excited [about Bear]. And it’s Ned’s first baby — I can’t wait for that bit, actually.”

she is being willfully obtuse about this because she KNOWS their actions are insane and stupid, but she has too much pride to admit it..

wait… hold up, you think it’s “insane and stupid” that the baby’s last name is winslet instead of rocknroll?

no. it’s insane and stupid to marry someone who named himself rocknroll in the first place. and doubly moreso to name the kid you have with him “bear”. and triple it to act like the public was sooooo crazy for assuming they were going to give it his dumb last name because you know, it’s not like there is previous evidence in the form of her other two kids who wear their dads last names, to support such a hypothesis.

but you knew that just as well as she does.

I think people may have been shocked by the 3 kids by 3 men (not that that’s too uncommon in Hollywood) and the baby’s name, but also by the fact that she insinuated in several interviews before she was pregnant that she doesn’t let her older kids see their fathers. I liked her before but that changed my opinion of her, if that is indeed what she does, because that is NOT cool.

She gave her child a hillbilly name with zero class. That’s the only thing I can find to comment on. Maybe she’ll call the next one Bubba.

Seriously??!! She is a grown up??!! Three kids, three different men, she married and subsequently had a baby with someone who legally changed their name to Rocknroll, she KNOWS the her baby daddies aren’t going to stick around so she gives them all her maiden name and then she names her son Bear?! Yeah, she’s a grown up.

Bear is a nice nickname. I just don’t see how you can have a Mia and a Joe then go for Bear lol. Poor kid!

I doubt Bear’s name is going to cause him much grief…it really isn’t that outlandish and the bottom line is, it’s her kid and she can name him whatever she likes.

    Hey, how is this?

How about Kate Winslet can name and raise her children as she seems fit. She can also marry and breed with whomever she feels fit. She can live her life as she seems fit as well.

Is she breaking any laws? Is she hurting anyone? No. Then it truly does not matter.
