“Kingston and Zuma each love to pick out their own clothes so my role in that has diminished. They are both very stylish little boys and have huge opinions on their own clothes.” – Gavin on his eldest boys.
“It’s super fun being a mom, but it’s not what you think it’s going to be. And it’s really gradual. At first, your life is totally the same. You have this cute little thing that you get to drive around everywhere and you’re so proud and it’s amazing. And as they grow older, it really does start to change your life. Like, Oh, my God, they have school, they have to get through first grade, they have to learn to read.” – Gwen on motherhood.
“Kingston is really temperamental with his fashion choices, so yeah, it just depends on what mood he’s in.” – Gwen on her then 5-year-old son.
“You have to relinquish all self-importance. It’s not a bad thing. You don’t have time to think about yourself. I used to wallow in introspection. I don’t have time to be that guy now. I’d been around babies 12 minutes my entire life. I didn’t read any books. And we had friends of ours who were like, ‘You guys are crazy, you’ve got to read books’ [but parenthood] is so natural you just fall into it and you find your way. It’s terrifying and exciting and brilliant.” – Gavin on fatherhood.
“He’s this very cool, chilled-out little guy. He’s just like another person, except that he’s super-cute and super-entertaining.” – Gwen on her then 6-month-old son.
“It’s one thing when you have an infant, but when you have this two-or three-year-old going, ‘Mommy, what’s the deal?’ it’s harder. Kingston’s whole thing is, ‘I need, I need.’ He is insane right now. We’re just hoping for the best and that he’s not going to turn out to be a freak, but we’ll see.” – Gwen on her first born son.
