Actor Alec Baldwin, 53, has recently risen to the defence of his darling daughter Ireland, 15, after she was publicly chastised for quoting the controversial title of a Jay Z and Kanye West song on her Twitter page.

Ireland - Alec's daughter with ex-wife Kim Basinger - claims she was innocently expressing her love for the rap megastars and their collaborative album Watch The Throne when she received grief over using the offensive 'N' word without censorship.

Alec Baldwin was rushed to a Manhattan hospital early Thursday morning (February 11) after a girl thought to be his daughter called 911 saying he was "unresponsive," New York Daily News reports.

Paramedics rushed the 30 Rock star from his Central Park West apartment to Lenox Hill Hospital with his consent around 12:10 a.m., authorities report. Baldwin was released shortly thereafter. A law enforcement official stated that Baldwin and his 14-year-old daughter Ireland had argued and she told a 911 operator her father threatened to take pills.

"This was a misunderstanding on one person's part," Baldwin's rep, Matthew Hiltzik, states. "Alec was quickly released from the hospital, he's completely fine and will be at work today."

Ireland is Alec's daughter with estranged ex-wife, actress Kim Basinger. The father-daughter duo have had a rocky relationship, but were said to have reconciled after a voicemail he left calling her a "rude, thoughtless little pig" was made public in 2007.

In the infamous message directed to Ireland, Baldwin threatened to "straighten your little ass out" and declared "you have humiliated me for the last time."

Baldwin has also described Kim Basinger as "a thoughtless pain in the ass."

The 51-year-old Along Came Polly star is set to co-host the Academy Awards next month with fellow funnyman, Steve Martin.

In a recent interview with Playboy, 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin discussed his future plans to write a book on parenting.

It will be ironic for some people, but I’m going to write a parenting book,” says the 51-year-old actor. “We’re at, not a crisis, but an awful place right now in terms of parenting. People are raising their children with the belief that we need to be friends with our children. Kids have too much power and call too many of the shots, telling their parents what they will and won’t do.”

The father of one shared his philosophies on what is wrong with the world today: “In my gut I feel it’s another manifestation of how hard life has become. People are working hard to make money and manage their feelings about what the country’s going through. We live in stressful times. People come home, walk up the driveway, put the key in the door, and they just can’t do another hard job. Parenting your children effectively is a tough job.”

Alec's newest writing endeavor may come as a surprise to those who remember the April 2007 voice-mail debacle where he accused his now 13-year-old daughter, Ireland, of being a “rude little pig” who needed to have her “ass straightened out” after she had “humiliated [him] for the last time.”

In the Playboy interview, Baldwin goes on to say that the man who originally released the controversial voice-mail, Harvey Levin of TMZ, is a “human tumor, a graceless character who lives in that weird netherworld.”
