Christina Aguilera chewed on gum as she did some shopping with her color coordinated son, 1 1/2-year-old Max, and hubby Jordan Bratman at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills on Saturday (October 17).

The Beautiful singer recently revealed that she turned to music to escape the fear she felt growing up with an abusive father.

I witnessed a lot of unpleasant things - a lot of pushing and shoving and fighting and quarrelling. Growing up I did not feel safe. Feeling powerless is the worst feeling in the world. I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music came from."

The 28-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer is the new spokesperson for the annual World Hunger Relief campaign:

As a mom, I can’t accept that even one child could go hungry or that a child dies every six seconds from hunger. That’s why I’m so passionate about this cause," says the songstress who recently traveled to Guatemala, where she witnessed the problem firsthand. "World Hunger Relief makes a huge difference by providing relief for millions of hungry people, especially schoolchildren in developing countries. I hope by lending my voice to this cause I can raise awareness and move millions of people and children from hunger to hope."

Christina Aguilera Talks About Abusive Childhood

Christina Aguilera Talks About Abusive Childhood

Christina Aguilera opens up about her abusive childhood in a new documentary.

The Beautiful singer, who is mom to 20-month-old son Max Liron, reveals that she turned to music to escape the fear she felt growing up with an abusive father.

"I witnessed a lot of unpleasant things - a lot of pushing and shoving and fighting and quarrelling,” she tells E!. “Growing up I did not feel safe. Feeling powerless is the worst feeling in the world. I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music came from."

This isn’t the first time Christina has talked about her difficult childhood – it’s even been the subject of songs such as I'm OK and Oh Mother.

The Grammy-winner has said in the past, "It's therapeutic for me to talk about it. It gives me a reason to understand why I went through what I did."

Christina’s mom Shelley also describes a horrifying incident when she returned home to find Christina, then 4, with blood on her face.

"I scooped her up and said, 'Oh my God. What's wrong?' She told me, 'Daddy wanted to take a nap and I made too much noise.'"

It brings tears to my eyes to think of any child going through something so awful. Kudos to Christina for speaking up about it.

Christina Aguilera & Family Are Saturday Shoppers

Christina Aguilera & Family Are Saturday Shoppers

Max Liron got a smooch from his adoring mom Christina Aguilera as the pair, along with dad Jordan Bratman, stopped in at kids' clothing store La La Ling in Los Feliz, CA yesterday.

The Beautiful singer and her 17-month-old tot looked too cute in matching shades as they left the store. Looks like little Max is also sporting a bit of a black eye - ouch!

Earlier this year Christina was praised by her fellow famous mom Nicole Richie, whose daughter Harlow is just one day older than Max: "She's a great wife, great mom and great singer. She does it all. And I'm sure Max gets better lullabies than Harlow!"

Christina Aguilera Is Too Busy For Another Baby

Christina Aguilera Is Too Busy For Another Baby

Like so many busy moms, singer Christina Aguilera is working on balancing both career and kids.

Asked last year whether she and her husband Jordan Bratman plan on giving their son Max, now 18 months, a little brother or sister, the Beautiful singer replied, "Yes, absolutely. Absolutely," adding that motherhood "comes very naturally" to her.

However, with a movie underway - her big screen debut - and her music career still going strong, it seems Christina isn't sure now is the best time for another baby.

"Christina loves her family time with Jordan and Max and now she has a studio at home, being a mum and working at the same time is a real possibility – but she doesn't know if she wants to give up her other pursuits just yet," says a source close to the star. "She has just signed for a new movie and has her radio venture too, so she feels now's not a good time to have another baby."

That's not to say she's ruled it out all together. The source adds that Christina, 28, does hope to have another baby eventually - "Especially a little girl."

Christina and Max are seen here together earlier this summer.

Christina Aguilera is known for her powerful pipes, but the talented mom is now ready to try her hand at acting as well.

Variety reports that Christina, 28, is set to make her big screen debut in a musical titled Burlesque.

The movie, which was written with Christina in mind, will tell the story of "an ambitious smalltown girl with a big voice who finds love, family and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club that appears to be right out of Bob Fosse's 'Cabaret.'"

Christina and her son Max, 15 months, are featured in People magazine's current "Most Beautiful People" issue, where she offers her opinion on what is sexy: "Since becoming a mom, I feel I have more knowledge and that makes me feel beautiful. I feel more centered, which makes me feel confident and sexy."

Will you head to the theaters for Christina's big screen debut?

Christina Aguilera Says Motherhood Is Sexy

Christina Aguilera Says Motherhood Is Sexy

Christina Aguilera is one of many gorgeous moms included in People magazine’s new “Most Beautiful People” issue. The 28-year-old singer, who has son Max Liron, 15 months, with her husband Jordan Bratman, passes on a few of her favorite beauty tips, and reveals why motherhood has made her feel even sexier.

On Max’s latest milestones: “He's absorbing everything like a sponge right now. We have to be cautious what we're saying around him! He's speaking a little Spanish too. He said mama and papa months ago. Vacuum was one of his first words! He has a cleaning fetish and he loves to run around with a rag and dust and clean, and he loves to clean his high chair after he's done eating. It's so cute! I'll lift him down and the first thing he does is to take a rag and clean off his chair. He's mommy's little helper.”

On how motherhood has changed her: “My whole goal in life is to better myself as a person. One thing I've learned is patience. Having a child is a real eye-opener. It also gives you a new sense of beauty, because you feel more centered. I feel a deeper sense of happiness. And it's funny, I get more done now! I know there's a limited amount of time for everything now, and that really motivates me to cram as much in as I can in the amount of time I have. It's made me balance and schedule things better.”

Nicole Richie Says Christina Aguilera Is A Great Mom

Nicole and her boyfriend Joel Madden recently announced the happy news that they are expecting their second child.

The former Simple Life star chats about her fellow famous mom Christina Aguilera. The two have become fast friends after the birth of their kids last year - Nicole’s daughter Harlow was born just one day before Christina’s son Max.

“Christina and I haven't known each other long but we met through mutual friends," Nicole says. "Because we had our babies at the same time - they were born one day apart - we've got to know each other. She's a great wife, great mom and great singer. She does it all. And I'm sure Max gets better lullabies than Harlow!"

Earlier this week the busy mom put in an appearance at Kitson in LA for the launch of her House of Harlow jewelry line.
