Heath Ledger's Golden Globe Will Go To Matilda

Actor Heath Ledger passed away nearly a year ago, but yesterday, he won his first Golden Globe Award, Best Supporting Actor for his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight, which has, to date, earned $997 million worldwide, making it the second-highest grossing film ever, behind Titanic. Heath's mother, Sally, says that the award will end where it belongs: with his 3-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose.
"I should imagine that eventually it will be going to Matilda," Sally Bell says from her home in Perth, Australia, in an exclusive interview. "At this stage she is only so young, but down the track she will have all these things. It will belong to her because she is part of him."
Sally also said she and the rest of the family are "bursting with pride" over her son's recognition for playing the Joker, a role he "loved."
"It is such a fantastic and wonderful legacy for his daughter. Matilda will have so many people who will be able to speak to her about her father's abilities and [the] respect he had in the industry. That is such a wonderful legacy to leave," she says.
Heath's family knew he would win the Golden Globe before they boarded a flight to the US from Australia, and that there were "a few tears."
"There is a lot of emotion tied up in this and we have to deal with that emotion first before we can relax and enjoy the moment, if you know what I mean," she explains, adding that Heath would have appreciated the acknowledgment from his peers. "That's what meant the most to him really," she says.

Company Trying To Deny Ledger's Life Insurance Policy
"ReliaStar is entitled to investigate Plaintiff's claim to determine if the 'Suicide' provision is applicable." That provision states, "If the Insured commits suicide ... we will pay only the amount of premiums paid to us."Click below to read the rest of the article.
Matilda Ledger Will Inherit Heath's Estate

Matilda Rose Ledger, turns 3 on October 28, will inherit her father's entire estate, Heath's father Kim says. When Heath died in January, he had not yet updated his will to include his daughter. The beneficiaries listed were his parents and his sisters, and many people wondered whether Heath's family, or even Matilda's mother, Michelle Williams, would make a claim on the actor's estate. But Kim says,
"There is no claim. Our family has gifted everything to Matilda. That was the plan from the moment my boy passed away. There was never any question about the fact that Heath's estate would go to Matilda. Never a question. We are very close to Michelle and Matilda."
Heath's estate is estimated to be about $16.6 million US dollars.

Heath Ledger's Family Issues A Statement

Heath Ledger's family read a statement outside of their home in West Australia:
"We, Heath's family, confirm the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda, who was found in a peaceful sleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3:30 p.m. (EST)," his father, Kim, read while accompanied by mother Sally and Ledger's sister, Katie."We would like to thank our friends and everyone around the world for their kind wishes at this time.
"Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life, but few had the pleasure to truly know him.
"He was a down-to-earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and unselfish individual who was an extreme inspiration to many.
"Please now respect our family's need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately."
Separately, Ledger's rep said, "We are all deeply saddened and shocked by this accident. This is an extremely difficult time for his loved ones and we are asking the media to please respect the family's privacy and avoid speculation until the facts are known."
I can’t imagine his family is going through right now. They have lost a son, a brother, a father and a friend. Until any facts are known, I will not be writing about the many possible reasons for his death that are all over the press/tabloids.

Heath and his lookalike daughter Matilda, who will turn 3 2 October 28, were out in SoHo, NY yesterday.
Heath was once quoted as saying:
I'm not good at future planning. I don't plan at all. I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow. I don't have a day planner and I don't have a diary. I completely live in the now, not in the past, not in the future.
I am totally like that, I am not a big planner.
