Celebrity parents and their kids gathered on Sunday (July 11) to help Jayneoni Moore launch Sophie’s Book Club, a reading initiative encouraging children to crack a book - or two! - during the summer months.

Some of the celebs in attendance were Nancy O’Dell, Ming-Na, Samantha Harris, Constance Marie, Kim Porter, and Joey Lawrence. Baskin Robbins and Paper Culture sponsored the fun event in Sherman Oaks, Calif. Nancy, Ming-Na and Constance even read a few stories aloud to the kids.

Some of the great books in Sophie’s Book Club include How Rocket Learned to Read, Dogs Don’t Do Ballet, Swim! Swim! and Duck! Rabbit! The fun event also included a book drive, where celebrity parents purchased new books to be donated to local Los Angeles preschools in low-income areas.

Actor Joey Lawrence has had a very busy year thus far. The Blossom star has been filming his new television show, been faced with news that his wife, Chandi Yawn-Nelson, had a rare blood disorder which could cause serious complications with pregnancy, and finally on March 4, the couple welcomed their second child, daughter Liberty Grace, to join older sister Charleston, 3.

In an interview with Pregnancy magazine, Lawrence shared his thoughts on being outnumbered by females, and touched on the challenge of raising children in Hollywood.

Actor Joey Lawrence’s wife, Chandie Yawn-Nelson, who is currently pregnant with the couple’s second child – to be named Liberty Grace – has been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, reports Starpulse.com.

Just weeks before her April 3rd due date, Chandie has been diagnosed with Rh disease, which could translate to Hemolytic disease for her newborn. In the most severe cases, this condition can cause heart failure in the unborn child, resulting in stillbirth.

Joey, 33, opened up to Life & Style about the difficult news:

There are so many unknowns about it because it is so rare. All you can do is pray hard and be positive.

The former Blossom star and his wife have been married since 2005 and are also parents to daughter Charli, 3.
