Titanic star Kate Winslet graces the March 2012 cover of Ladies' Home Journal and opens up about motherhood and her new book, The Golden Hat: Talking Back to Autism. While Kate's children - daughter Mia, 11 and son Joe, 8 - don’t have autism, the Oscar-winner is on a mission to dispel myths and raise awareness for people living autism.
On the biggest misunderstanding about children with autism: "That they are not capable of understanding anything, that they are completely locked in their own worlds and aren't paying attention to anything around them or that they are disinterested. Even those closest to them sometimes believe that. And so often that proves not to be the case."

Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet went for a morning stroll with her two kids - daughter Mia, 11, and son Joe, 7 - and her new beau in New York City on Thursday (November 3).
The Titanic actress, 36, who rescued Richard Branson's mother from a house fire in August, took a brisk walk with her boyfriend 'Ned Rocknroll' (Branson's nephew) and enjoyed watching her son's skateboard skills.

Kate Winslet opens up to Harper's Bazaar UK on her divorce from her husband of seven years, Sam Mendes. The actress said the two are keeping the peace because of the couple's 7-year-old son Joe.
She explains, "We're grown-ups at the end of the day, and however hard it's been for me, it’s been equally hard for him. And we have a child together who we both love - and raising him together, jointly and without any conflict, is absolutely key."

Kate Winslet says her vomiting scene in the new film Carnage has left a lasting impression on her children, Mia, 10 and Joe, 7.
Speaking at the Venice Film Festival, she said: "My kids came to work for the vomit day, and I am so thrilled that they were there because they literally have not stopped talking about it since. It was hysterical."

On standing strong after the divorce: "But I've never been lonely," adds the actress. "And with my kids...that remains the case. But to be in this place where I can say I really like this space. I really need to not have anyone around. It's a surprise to discover that I like being on my own."
