Singer Kelis was spotted spending the afternoon in Los Angeles, California yesterday with her 2-year-old son Knight (December 8). It's been a while since we last spotted Knight - he's getting so big!
Joining friends on a trip to the LA Zoo, the pair visited the animals and, in what looked to be the toddler's favorite part of the day, took a ride on the carousel!

Almost two years after the birth of her son Knight, singer Kelis says that she had no idea the profound impact that motherhood would have on her.
"I always wanted to be a mother because that's what women do, but not because I really understood what it meant," Kelis, 31, tells Attitude magazine. "Now I understand it's the most amazing thing in the world."

Kelis and her 18-month-old son Knight were spotted making their way through Australia's Perth domestic airport today (February 20). This is our first good glimpse of the 'Milkshake' singer's son - he's adorable!
Kelis was one of the headline acts at this year's Good Vibrations Festival - as was her ex-husband Nas. Concert organizers were reportedly instructed to ensure the pair didn't cross paths backstage. Their split, which occurred when Kelis was 7 months pregnant, was not a very amicable one.

Since giving birth to her first child last year, singer Kelis has experienced a wealth of change in her life. The Milkshake songstress – who welcomed baby boy Knight on July 22, 2009 – says she never expected the overwhelming emotions that she now feels as a mother.
“Motherhood has made me more selfless and emotional,” she explains. “Motherhood changes the way you look at people and human life.”

Milkshake singer Kelis was seven-months pregnant with son Knight - now 13-months-old - when she and husband Nas officially split, and the 31-year-old is loving life as a single parent.
In an interview with The Guardian via Contact Music, Kelis opened up about being a single mother, saying,
It's hard being a working single mother, but on the flipside, it's awesome too. You only have to worry about yourself. It's only your influence and your ideas. That's not to say there's not room for someone else to be involved, but at the moment I'm raising Knight how I think he should be raised. He's a great baby."
The former couple settled their financial issues in May when their divorced was finalized, and since this time, Kelis has only had kind words for her ex.

Singer Kelis has recently opened up about her repaired relationship with ex-husband, rapper Nas. Though in the past the two faced off in a battle over child and spousal support, Kelis says that it is important to her that their son sees his parents have a cordial relationship, saying,
My kid is the center of my world. I don't leave him ever. I take him with me everywhere. I was married. It didn't work out. The most amazing thing came out of it. I am good with that. (Knight) will never read anywhere that I said anything negative about his father. It doesn't matter whether it's true or not. Because at the end of the day he needs to know he did come from love."
The two were married in 2005 and split wile Kelis was pregnant with son Knight. Nas also has a teenage daughter, Destiny, from a previous relationship.

Milkshake singer Kelis and rapper Nas split last April, while the singer was 7-months-pregnant with son Knight. After a bitter feud over child/spousal support, with Knight's first birthday on the horizon, the two have mended some of the tensions in their relationship, and in an interview with US Weekly, the singer opened up about life post-split
On her relationship with Nas: "Yeah everything's fine. We are divorced, but there is no point to fighting -- there is nothing to fight about. I am super happy; my life is awesome. We are friends, we get along now and it's all good."
On son Knight: "He is hilarious! He claps, he snaps and he waves. He is a shrunken little person and has a lot of personality."
On her inspiration for her new album: "Pregnancy gives a woman a strong sense of validation. [When you're pregnant], you wake up everyday and internally everything is working perfectly and you look at the world and everything sort of fits together. It's hard not to realize there is a creator and he created all of us."

Nas Ordered To Pay Kelis Child/Spousal Support

Rapper Nas, who split from ex-wife Kelis while the Milkshake singer was seven-months pregnant, has been ordered by a judge to pay a hefty $299,015.50 in back child and spousal support, reports TMZ.
Nas, whose real name is Nasir Jones, and Kelis Rogers have been in a bitter dispute since the split, with the last reports stating that the rapper would pay approximately $50,000 per month in child and spousal support.
The rapper has yet to pay his ex-wife, fueling a judge to order him to pay almost $90,000 in back-dated support, as well as $10,000 per month in spousal support until he completely pays off the amount he owes Kelis. The judge also tacked on over $200,000 to cover Kelis' legal and accounting fees.
The couple, who were married in 2005, have one child together, son Knight, while Nas also has a teenage daughter from his first marriage, Destiny, 16.
Kelis Dishes On Her Lengthy Labor

R&B singer Kelis welcomed son Knight nine-months ago, and is now thanking pregnancy and her faith for helping her get through labor, as well as making her best work to date. Of her lengthy labor, Kelis says, "It was really savage. I was in labor for 67 hours. I went natural, and it was savage! If you ever doubted the glory of God, you have to rethink that after having a baby. I mean there's no way I could have done this by myself. There is a creator."
The now 30-year-old also adds that her perspective has changed since entering her third decade, telling Style magazine via Contact Music, "My mom always used to tell us, 'Your twenties? Whatever. In your thirties you'll be your most beautiful, your sexiest, your smartest.' I've been through so many life changes getting here, it's like, she was right'."
Of her return to music, the Milkshake singer, who filed for divorce from rapper Nas while 7-months-pregnant, adds, "Being pregnant and recording was awesome. I just felt I had so much to say."
Knight is the first child for Kelis, while Nas has a daughter Destiny, 16 from his first marriage.
