Matilda Rose Ledger was born on October 28, 2005, in New York City. Her parents are Michelle Williams and the late Heath Ledger, who met on the set of the film Brokeback Mountain, in which they played husband and wife. In a December 2008 interview with L.A. Weekly, Williams spoke about taking time off set to be a full-time single mother and the support she has found in what she refers to as "coffee-shop parents" and "single-mom parents". Williams said, "I’m not quite ready to give up working, but I don’t know how to do the good balance of it. That’s the challenge, to live in the chaos."

She's been getting a ton of praise for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn, but for Michelle Williams, her favorite role in life is being a mom to her 6-year-old daughter, Matilda. And she's about to spend a lot more time committing to that part in the coming weeks and months.

With her 6th birthday tomorrow, it sounds like Matilda Ledger got her gift a bit early this year.
Matilda's mom Michelle Williams revealed that the pair recently brought home a new puppy, telling Ellen DeGeneres that the new addition is a mixed "sort of Spaniel thing."

It's the birthday girl! Michelle Williams and her 4-year-old daughter Matilda were spotted walking to school in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday morning (October 29). Matilda's father is the late Heath Ledger.
Matilda’s grandfather, Kim Ledger, recently said he will spend Christmas with his adorable granddaughter: "Unfortunately, we won't be seeing her [for her birthday], but we will be seeing her at Christmas,." He added that she's looking more like his late son Heath every day: “She’s beautiful. Yes, she is [looking more like Heath]. Of course she is.”
