Viggo Mortensen Talks Film & Fatherhood

Viggo Mortensen isn't one to shy away from tough roles, and his upcoming turn in The Road, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same title by Cormac McCarthy, is no exception. In the film, the New York-born actor plays a father struggling to protect his young son as they journey to safety after the apocalypse. A dad himself to 21-year-old son Henry, Viggo tells Parade magazine that it was a role he could relate to in many ways.

On the challenge of fatherhood: "You worry about your child’s future. You’re like, ‘What if I’m away from my infant son or daughter for a few hours, do I trust someone else to take care of them?’ Then, later in life, you're more concerned about whether you’ll be around anymore to help your children when they’re out of the nest. This movie just takes all those concerns to an extreme.”

On being a very proud papa: “My son Henry is multi-talented. He writes poetry and music, he’s a musician and has done some acting. He’s also into archaeology. I think you could say he’s well-rounded.”

Woody Harrelson: "I Think I Am A Pretty Good Daddy"

He may be a pacifist in real life, but in his new flick Zombieland, Woody Harrelson plays an "AK-toting zombie slayer."

The dad-of-three jokes that the role presented a perfect parenting opportunity, telling Parade magazine, "[My daughters are] into Twilight, so this is a real opportunity for me, as a parent, to try to get them more into zombies and away from vampires."

Woody, who has girls Deni Montana, 16, Zoe Giordano, 13, and Makani Ravello, 3, with his wife Laura Louie, says that when it comes to fatherhood he thinks he's doing a pretty good job.

"It's hard to be objective but I think I am a pretty good daddy. That's what I am told anyway. I am very understanding with my kids. There's nothing they could do that I haven't done. I like to see them do their thing and I don't like to tell them do this and do that, give advice. I am not the one to give advice. They advise me. In fact they teach me. I try to be just a good friend to my kids."

Zombieland hits theaters tomorrow.

Vince Vaughn Is Ready For Kids

Funny man Vince Vaughn says he’s ready to settle down.

The Wedding Crashers star will soon be walking down the aisle himself, having popped the question to Canadian real estate agent Kyla Weber earlier this year.

Vince, 39, says that fatherhood is definitely in the plans, telling People, "It's the first time that I really want to have kids.”

He adds that he thinks it’s time to let his career take a backseat to family: "I've been very fortunate in my career, and my life has been about that for so long that you get bored of it. You're ready for your life to be about other people and other things."

Pal Peter Billingsley, who directs Vince in his new film, Couples Retreat, reveals that he and Kyla are a good match.

"I'm very happy for Vince. He's marrying an amazing girl," He says. "It's a natural cycle of life that we all go in."

The 36-year-old actress tells US that life has been “blissful” since she and Hollywood agent David Bugliari tied the knot last month.

"It doesn't really feel any different yet," Alyssa says of married life. "I think kids would probably change the dynamics, but for right now, not too much has changed. Which is good."

Joking that her "mom has been on my case since I was 24" to give her a grandchild, Alyssa says she and David plan to just “go with the flow.”

"I don't think we are going to plan it," she says. "I think we are just going to go with the flow. So we'll see what happens. But I am [getting older]. Gotta get on it!"

Greg Grunberg Is A "Really Proud" Dad

Greg Grunberg Is A "Really Proud" Dad

Most of us know actor Greg Grunberg from his roles on tv hits such as Heroes and Alias, but it turns out that acting isn't his only passion. The doting dad-of-three is also an aspiring rock star (he plays the drums for Band From TV, a group of tv stars who play for charity), the founder of the very cool site TalkAboutIt.org that promotes epilepsy education, and the creator of the Yowza iPhone coupon app. Greg recently took time out to talk to Parade magazine about his busy schedule and happy home life with his wife Elizabeth and their boys Jake, Ben and Sam.

On his involvement with epilepsy awareness and education: "It's interesting because I approach it from the father of a child who has epilepsy [son Jake, 13]. I'm incredibly passionate about it. It's made me relate to anybody. Everybody's got something they're dealing with. I mean, I've got cholesterol that I have to watch. This is what we teach our son, don't let it define you, but at the same time deal with it, don't hide it or be ashamed of it."

On being a very proud papa: "My kids are the ones who see another child or person in a wheelchair and walk up to them and go, 'Hey what's the matter? What happened?' It's not like they look out of the corner of their eye and they're scared. They deal with this every day. Like a kid in class who might be autistic, they end up being their best friend. And Jake leads a walk in D.C. with 15,000 people behind him. He's got his arms in the air and he's leading this walk on the Mall and I'm really proud."
