The Jolie-Pitts Pick Out Pets

The Jolie-Pitts Pick Out Pets

It looks like the Jolie-Pitt clan has grown yet again! Back home at their chateau in the South of France, Brad & Angelina took their sons Maddox, 8, and Pax, 5, along on a trip to the local pet and garden store last week (Aug 20) to pick out gerbils and goldfish.

Looking chic in a strapless black summer dress, Angie can be seen bonding with the family's new furry friends while Brad browses the store.

Not with the foursome were the couple's other kids Zahara, 4, Shiloh, 3, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 1.

Seven month-old twins Knox & Vivienne were not with the family.

We recently saw some great pictures of Angelina with Shiloh and Zahara shopping for NYC apartments in Manhattan’s Washington Heights.

Happy 5th Birthday Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt!

Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt turns five years old today!

Name: Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt

Birthday: November 29, 2003 (adopted March 15, 2007)

Parents: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Siblings: Big brother Maddox, 7, and younger siblings Zahara, 3 1/2, Shiloh, 2 1/2, and 4 1/2-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne

Facts about him:

• Adopted from Vietnam in 2007 at age 3.

• His birth name was Pham Quang Sang, but was changed after his adoption; it translates to "peaceful sky." (Pax, a name Angelina's mother really liked, means "peace" in Latin, while "thien" is Vietnamese for "sky.")

• Attended preschool in Prague with Zahara.

Right after Pax's adoption Angelina said,

"You can imagine what courage it takes to be in all new surroundings, with new people and a new language," she tells PEOPLE. "He is very strong." However, by four months later, Pax - described as a "little bit shy" by the orphanage director - became "probably the wildest person in the house right now. I'm still having trouble convincing Pax that underwear and pants go together – underwear is not pants!"

She also did an interview in May 2007, in which she said,

"Pax is almost three and a half and has never made a real decision for himself because everybody does everything in a group in the orphanage. There were all these things he'd never had. The first time I gave him a bath, he was suddenly laughing, out of his mind. He took five baths in one day. We'd be talking and he'd take his clothes off and run into the bathroom. The first two days, he cried a lot. I hired a translator, and he would explain what was going on. The first night, I slept alone with him. I was expecting him to wake up and scream, but he woke and just stared at me. I handed him a stuffed animal, and we walked around the room pointing at things. By day three, he didn't want me to put him down. I think he got used to the reality that somebody loves you and that's what a mommy is."

Angelina Jolie: 'Pax Still Saves Food'

Adopting an older child is a completely different experience than adopting an infant, and it comes with its own set of unique challenges. Angelina Jolie has three adopted children, but only middle child Pax, 5 this month, was adopted as an older child; he lived in an orphanage in Vietnam for the first three years of his life. Angelina has shared before some of the funnier parts of helping him adjust, saying when they first adopted him, "he would take five baths a day," they "had trouble convincing him underwear is not pants" and that he went from being the "shyest" to the "wildest person in the house".

Unfortunately, not all aspects are as lighthearted, and little Pax is still carrying some emotional scars. Hello! magazine interviewed her about her recent trip to Afghanistan, where she saw children in horrid conditions, and the magazine asked specifically about her own children adapting, being from "similar deprived circumstances." Angelina answered,

"Children respond to affection quickly when they have been starved of it, so they are very loving soon after coming home. But Pax, for example, still wants to save food. He often puts parts of his dinner away for another time, even though we explain there will be more tomorrow."

Maddox and Pax Jolie-Pitt Hit The Park

jolie_100708_014.jpg

The two oldest Jolie-Pitt kids, 7-year-old Maddox and 4 1/2-year-old Pax, had a busy day today. They accompanied mom and dad - Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie - to the site of Brad's "Make It Right" project in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, and while dad worked, Angelina took the boys to a nearby park, where they all had a blast. Looking at these pictures, I can definitely see why she lost the baby weight so fast! Head to JustJared to see a few pics of Brad and Angie getting in a quick snuggle while they were down there. Also, if you would like to donate to the Make It Right Project, please go here. The project has now raised enough money for 90 houses out of its 150-house goal! jolie_100708_017.jpgjolie_100708_020.jpgjolie_100708_024.jpg Click below for 3 more!
