Pierce Brosnan Takes His Boys' Advice
Pierce Brosnan, well-known for captivated audiences as James Bond, is now making the biggest stretch of his career by playing a half-man, half-horse character in Percy Jackson and the Oympians: The Lightning Thief, based on the popular teen novel.
Pierce said that his two young sons with wife Keely Shaye Smith - Dylan, 12, and Paris, 8 - talked him into taking on this new role.
"I bought the book three or four years ago for my son, who's now 12, and then forgot about it," Pierce told Parade. "So we were there having dinner one night, and I said, 'They want me to be in this film called Percy Jackson and the Olympians. My son said, 'You got me the book but I never read it.' He checked it out and went, 'Oh, this is good. You've got to do it dad, you've got to do it.'"
And Pierce was thrilled with Paris' critique of the film.
My eight-year-old said, 'It's the best film you've made, Dad'. That was like getting an Oscar," Pierce told Entertainment Tonight.
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which also stars Uma Thurman, Rosario Dawson and Catherine Keener, hits theaters February 12.

Paris is Pierce’s second child with wife Keely Shaye Smith. The couple are also parents to 12-year-old Dylan Thomas.
The James Bond star also has three grown children with his late wife Cassandra Harris - Charlotte, 37, and Christopher, 36, are his wife’s children from a previous relationship whom he adopted after their father died in 1986, and Sean, 26, his only biological child with Cassandra.

Brosnan costars with Susan Sarandon in the upcoming movie The Greatest. The drama depicts a family's struggle to heal over the loss of their son. The tear-jerker was first screened at the Sundance Film Festival this past January.
The Greatest is set to open the 17th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival on Thursday (October 8).

Pierce Brosnan departed from LAX this weekend with sons Paris, 7 1/2, and Dylan, 12. The trio headed to Park City, Utah, for the 25th Sundance Film Festival.
The Festival opened Thursday night with the Claymation film Mary and Max, featuring the voices of Toni Collette and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
