Rachel Weisz's Son Keeps Family Chickens Safe From Coyotes

Actress Rachel Weisz, 40, has found a unique way to keep coyotes away from the chicken coop on her family’s country home in upstate New York, and her 4-year-old son Henry is lending a hand!

“Apparently if human beings urinate around the perimeter of the chicken coop it keeps the coyotes at bay,” she explains. “Apparently they don’t like human urine.”

“My son has taken on this task and he is peeing his way around this fence. He’s serious,” says the Mummy star, who keeps a flock of nine hens and one rooster. “He drinks a lot and he saves his pee for the chicken coop.”

In addition to helping to keep the chickens safe, Rachel says her son really enjoys spending time with the creatures: “He plays with the chickens, he catches them.”

Henry’s father is Rachel’s fiancé, film maker and producer Darren Aronofsky, 41.

Rachel Weisz's Ordinary Life

She's been called one of the world's most beautiful women, and an Oscar sits on display somewhere in the home she shares with her director beau Darren Aronofsky and their 3 1/2-year-old son Henry, but actress Rachel Weisz insists that she leads a fairly normal existence.

“I am interested in playing extraordinary women, but I have an ordinary life," the 40-year-old actress tells the UK's The Times, adding, “Of course, it is not ordinary to get dressed in frocks to walk down red carpets and travel all over the world and stay in five-star hotels. I’m not working in a factory. But I drop Henry off at school, I pick him up. I try my hardest to keep everyone together.”

Rachel Weisz: The Experience Of Being A Mother Is “Impossible To Imagine”

Though Rachel Weisz has taken on many different roles throughout her Hollywood career, it wasn’t until she became a mother that she realized just how different acting can be from reality.

“I’ve placed myself in many hypothetical situations through acting, but motherhood is real life,” she tells Reader’s Digest. “It’s an experience that can’t be transferred. I can get a general idea of some things — losing a child, for instance. But being an actual mother? No, that’s impossible to imagine.”

The 39-year-old actress, who has one son, Henry Chance, 3 ½, with fiancé Darren Aronofsky, says that the only true way to understand the mother-child bond is to live it:

It is one of the very few unimaginable experiences that you have to live to fully understand.
