Reese Witherspoon On Being A Single Mom
Despite the red carpet galas and her Oscar-winner title, Reese Witherspoon says she's not unlike so many other single moms out there.
"It isn't anything I chose in life, it just sort of happened that way," Reese told People at Tuesday's Avon "Champions Who Change Women's Lives" charity event in New York. "We all just do the best we can. We're all just people trying to get through life however we can... I'm thrilled to be any sort of inspiration to anyone!"
The 33-year-old Walk the Line star, who has kids Ava, 10, and Deacon, 6, with her ex Ryan Phillippe, is the Honorary Chairman of the Avon Foundation, which focuses on breast cancer and domestic violence.
Raising her kids in LA, Reese recently admitted that she misses her family and friends back home. It sounds as though she's managed to capture a bit of her former life in her newly launched Avon perfume, In Bloom.
"I just wanted a scent memory of my childhood in Tennessee growing up," she says. "A lot of it is white flowers and gardenias and things that I grew up in the backyard loving. Things that I smelled on my mother and my grandmother that really inspired a feeling of being back home."

Mom-of-two Reese Witherspoon looks radiant on the cover of the November issue of In Style magazine. The 33-year-old Oscar-winner, who has kids Ava, 10, and Deacon, 6 on Friday, with her ex Ryan Phillippe, opens up about surviving divorce, growing up - and whiling away the weekends with her beau Jake Gyllenhaal.
On raising her kids in LA: "Sometimes it's really difficult for me, being far away from home. I never imagined that my children wouldn't grow up next door to my brother's children. Or my mom and dad wouldn't constantly be around. At least I have a lot of southern friends in L.A. - I gravitate toward them."
On why she loves her weekends: "Jake is a great cook - he does a lot. We spend the weekends outside L.A, in Ojai, where I have a farmhouse. We have chickens and we grow cucumbers and tomatoes. I love it. It reminds me of where I grew up in Tennessee."
Reese & Ava Pick Up Some Lunch
Reese Witherspoon and her adorable, look-alike ten-year-old daughter, Ava, were photographed outside the Tavern restaurant in Brentwood, CA earlier today. The two picked up some lemonade and take-out lunch.
Reese is mentioned to be starring in Pharm Girl which is described as “a project centering on a woman who gets a job at a pharma powerhouse, but begins to see the underbelly of the industry as she rises through the company’s ranks.”
Reese Witherspoon Goes Back To School Shopping
What a cute pair! Reese Witherspoon and son Deacon, who turns 6 in October, were spotted shopping around the Brentwood Country Mart district on Tuesday (September 1). The doting mom picked up some back to school clothes for her adorable son.
The 33-year-old Legally Blonde star is also mom to daughter Ava, who turns 10 next week. Dad is Reese's ex-husband, fellow actor Ryan Phillippe.
Could Reese be hiding behind those shades? The Election actress has been spotted with a few black eyes lately due to baseball-related injuries. The Academy Award-winning actress has been filming an untitled baseball picture in Washington, DC, and took up softball as part of her training. The film also stars Jack Nicholson, Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson.
Reese Witherspoon To The Rescue
Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon recently came to the aid of a frazzled mom in need.
When the mom in front of her in the line at Whole Foods in LA realized she'd forgotten her money at home, the Legally Blonde star jumped in to help her out.
"Reese knows that kids make you lose your mind. When she spotted a harried mom who had forgotten her wallet she picked up the tab," says a source. "The woman was so flustered and embarrassed. But Reese said she would gladly take care of the $70 bill and no apology was necessary. She told the mom, 'I understand, I have kids too!'"

Mom-of-two Reese Witherspoon says she chooses roles with her kids in mind - and that's why she refuses to bare all on screen.
The 33-year-old Oscar-winner explains why she won't do nude scenes:
"I had my first baby when I was 23, so for me, no. I've always been choosing roles knowing that I have a daughter and I have a responsibility to her and to the world to be representing women of strength.
"These are the women I know in life. I think it's a natural extension of parenthood for you to feel like you're responsible for the worlds you create, whether they be silly or serious. I think you are responsible for the art you put in the world."

Reese Witherspoon was spotted taking her 5-year-old son Deacon and 9-year-old lookalike daughter Ava to a Little League baseball game in Los Angeles on Saturday. Reese and Ava were spotted sharing clothes at the fun family outing.
The 33-year-old Academy Award-winning actress has also been playing softball lately as she continues to prepare for an upcoming movie, which remains untitled, with Owen Wilson.
Reese is also slated to be in a sci-fi comedy called Used Guys which co-stars none other than the hilarious Ben Stiller.

Saturday was game day, the 5 1/2-year-old hit the fields with mom Reese Witherspoon, who carried a tote bag with Deacon's name on it. Witherspoon, 33, will be starring as a softball player in her upcoming untitled film and has been seen practicing her skills at a local softball field.
