Mayor Bloomberg & Solange Knowles Weigh In On Beyoncé Birth Controversy

New York City's Lenox Hospital is quickly becoming famous as the birthplace of baby Blue Ivy Carter. As congratulations have poured in for proud parents Beyoncé and Jay-Z, there's also been criticism over the past few days over the A-list treatment the stars reportedly received at Lenox.
Other parents at the hospital over the weekend have complained that the famous couple's intense security detail - they reportedly paid to have the entire floor on lockdown - made it difficult for them to see their own new babies. With hospital administrators vowing to look into the matter, NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg has now waded into the controversy as well.

What a cutie! Singer Solange Knowles took to her blog - her "damn blog," that is - on Thursday (December 8) to share a few pictures of her "muze," 7-year-old son Daniel "Julez" Smith.
Dressed in a denim button-down shirt that perfectly matched his beautiful blue eyes, Smith sat and enjoyed his breakfast as his proud mama snapped away.

Solange Knowles says that her sister Beyonce is a "phenomenal" aunt to her 7-year-old son Julez - and she can't wait to return the favor when Bey and her husband Jay-Z welcome their first child in February.
"My sister is a phenomenal aunt, so I'm ready to be the same in her life," Solange, 25, tells US. "I don't need any advice [on how to be a great aunt]. Because she has been a phenomenal aunt to my son, so she's set the tone as an aunt. I've set the tone as a mom, so we're learning from each other."

She can't wait until her BFF, Beyoncé Knowles welcomes her first child with hubby Jay-Z, but when it comes to starting her own family, Kelly Rowland isn't in any rush.
"Kids?! Unh-unh," the Destiny's Child alum laughed, telling MTV News, "I'll help take care of my 'sister' and her husband's baby first. I'm not ready for babies yet. I can watch them take care of this little baby."

Solange Knowles is thrilled about becoming an aunt to big sis Beyoncé's first child, telling Us Weekly, "I'm very excited! I couldn't be more excited for her -- she's gonna be a brilliant mom."
And though she's sure her superstar sister is going to rock at being a mother, Knowles reveals that there's another celeb mom who's currently serving as an inspiration to her.

Music power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z don't have kids of their own just yet, but they're getting plenty of practice thanks to the Single Ladies singer's 5-year-old nephew Daniel.
Daniel's mom Solange Knowles gives both babysitters rave reviews, telling OK! that Jay-Z is a "very good uncle." As for her big sis Beyonce:
“She’s very hands-on. I’ve had two weekends where I’ve been able to hand him over, and it’s been very nerve-racking for me, but she does a great job. The bedtimes we got to work on. Sometimes I’ll call expecting him to be asleep, but he’s still up.”

Beyonce Knowles was spotted with her mother Tina, sister Solange and her 4 1/2-year-old nephew Daniel Julez Smith, Jr. posing in front of the Andy Warhol Exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris, France on Tuesday.
Solange and her ex-husband Daniel Smith, who was her high school sweetheart, co-parent Daniel. Beyonce's 22-year-old sister has expressed regret for having a child at an early age, but calls her son the greatest unplanned blessing.

Solange Knowles had her son Daniel in 2004 when she was 18, and knows all about the challenges that come with being a teen mother. Knowles, 21, recently talked to Us Weekly about how she focused on raising her son, and also had some words of wisdom for pregnant 17-year old Jamie Lynn Spears.
"I'm sure a lot of people perceived that I was gonna be a young, irresponsible mom, [but] I think that there are some moms who are 35 who are just as irresponsible." To focus on raising her son, Knowles said she "moved to the country for a year" without any nannies or babysitters."My parents lived on a whole opposite part of the world," she said. "My son has been my focus ever since the day he was born. He's been the light of my life, the inspiration behind everything."
What kind of advice did she give to Jamie Lynn?
"You just have to make the best decisions for you. You have to decide what's best for you. Who are we to say what's right and wrong for a person?"
