Ron Howard: Being A Grandparent Is A Profound Experience

Ron Howard: Being A Grandparent Is A Profound Experience

Legendary film maker Ron Howard is making a behind-the-scenes return to TV in NBC’s Parenthood, years after finding fame on The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days. Married for 35 years, Ron and Cheryl Howard are proud parents to four children – daughters Bryce Dallas, 29, twins Jocelyn Carlyle and Paige Carlyle, 24, and son Reed Cross, 22 – and grandparents to 2 1/2-year-old grandson Theo. Ron opened up to Parade about how he has grown since becoming a father and the profound experience of being a grandparent.

On his personal growth since having children: “Humor is unavoidable. It might not feel funny in the moment, but more often than not there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and you can personally look back and find the laughs in being a parent. I felt pressure about being a father, more pressure than I would have ever imagined — trying to do it right, to be what I should be to my kids. At the same time, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I think I’ve probably learned more and grown more because I’m a father than for any other reason.”

Vera Farmiga: “I Could Never Reclaim These First Precious Moments Of Maternity”

Vera Farmiga: "I Could Never Reclaim These First Precious Moments Of Maternity"

It is always difficult to bounce back mentally and physically post-baby, but Academy Award nominated actress Vera Farmiga had a few additional challenges to overcome. The Up In The Air star began filming only two weeks after welcoming son Fynn last January. The role called for a feisty business woman with George Clooney as a leading man, and Farmiga, 36, dishes to USA Today the challenges that she faced working so soon after welcoming her son.

On her character in the film: “It was strange having to portray that frank sexuality when I did not feel sexy in the least bit. But that’s what I loved about her. I loved how daring she was. She makes sex, on screen, fun. She was curious and was gliding through life with grace and a sense of humor, and wit and self-possession and open-heartedness and femininity and sensuality and sexuality.”

Child Services Vists The Jackson Family Home

Child Services Vists The Jackson Family Home

The children of Michael Jackson appear to be in the midst of a very serious situation right now. TMZ is reporting that a stun gun was purchased by the son of Jermaine Jackson, 13-year-old Jaafar, and has since been used by the children in the Jackson home. Katherine Jackson had reportedly confiscated the gun three weeks ago, but it appears as though the children were using it just last week. It is also reported that Blanket, the son of Michael Jackson was at the end of the stun gun, and luckily guards walked in and stopped anything further from happening.

Last night the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services visited the Jackson home to interview Katherine, other family members, including Michael’s three children, as well as staff and confiscated the stun gun. A lawyer for Katherine Jackson also insists that neither Blanket, or Prince were in the room with the gun, and added that Jaafar was playing with the gun for a few minutes only, before it was confiscated.

Kendra Wilkinson: We Want Hank To Be An Athlete

Kendra Wilkinson: We Want Hank To Be An Athlete

In recent years, she was partying it up at the Playboy Mansion as one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends on The Girls Next Door. But now Kendra Wilkinson is happily married to pro football star Hank Baskett, has her own reality show and is new mom to 2-month-old son Hank. The 24-year-old blonde starlet tells Life & Style she wouldn’t have it any other way.

On how her life has changed: “My life has gone in chapters, and it’s gone the way I’ve always wanted it to. I’ll always be friends with Hef, and I appreciate where Playboy has gotten me. When this chapter is gone, the next will happen. I’m excited!”

On if little Hank will play football: “We want him to be an athlete. In his nursery, we’re going to surround him with footballs, baseballs and sports memorabilia. If he doesn’t want to play sports, that’ll be fine. It’ll be his decision.”

On if she still likes to party: “My job — making appearances and hosting parties — is very fun. But it’s a job. The club is my office! I don’t even drink hard liquor anymore. Whenever I have the chance, I sip wine and just relax.”
