The two Ohio police officers who are under investigation after breaking into the home of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick‘s surrogate mother became targets after asking for too much cash for the stolen photographs, TMZ.com reports.
Apparently Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter first knocked on the door of the surrogate’s home and then proceeded to break in when no one answered. Sources say that after entering, Carpenter proceeded to take fifteen photos of the residence and may have also attempted to retrieve answering machine messages left by Sarah Jessica.
Comic couple Will Arnett and Amy Poehler are used to making people laugh, but the new dad tells Parents magazine that his favorite audience is his 8-month-old son Archie.
“We have a lot of good laughs,” the former Arrested Development star says of family life. “Being a dad has been an incredible experience so far. And like millions of people already know, it’s just an awesome, life-altering event. Kids, no matter what age they are, provide you with so much laughter and joy. When your baby laughs at you, it’s the purest, most amazing feeling. It’s the best possible laugh you can get.”
Next up for Will is the family-friendly Disney flick, G-Force. Having also lent his voice to animated films such as Monsters vs. Aliens and Horton Hears a Who, the busy dad says, “I’m proud of the fact that I can show [Archie] some of my movies before he turns 21.”
Happy Father’s Day to Will and all the other dads out there!

USMagazine.com reports that after months of waiting and negotiating, Madonna‘s new adopted daughter Mercy James has finally united with the singer in London.
Mercy flew on a private jet from Malawi to London, where Madonna has a home. An airport employee as well as another source said that the 3-year-old girl left late Friday, accompanied by a nanny, a child nurse and another assistant.
Last week, Malawi’s high court overturned an earlier ruling that Madonna would not be allowed to adopt a second child from Malawi because she had not spent enough time in the country.
Mercy should have reached London Saturday morning (June 20) to join her new mother, David, 3, also adopted from Malawi, Lourdes, 12 and Rocco, 8.
Mom Jada Pinkett-Smith graces the cover of the July issue of Redbook. The 37-year-old HawthoRNe star talks to the magazine about the challenge of balancing work and family life, and shares the sexy secrets behind her 11-year marriage to Will Smith.
On her husband: “Will’s really smart. He’s very conscious and present.”
On relationships: “There’s a certain amount of safety you have to create for someone to feel like they can be open to you… That’s something we forget in marriages and relationships – they have to be places of safety, because they’re where you are most vulnerable. If you’re not allowed to be safe, I don’t know if you can reach the depths of connection that support commitment. You can be committed to somebody because of ego: ‘I said I was going to be with this joker for the rest of my life, so I’m just going to do it.’ Or you can be committed because you have a deeply rooted connection.”
On her tips for keeping the spark alive: “Nice outfits and high heels! And talking. And making time. You’ve got to make time. Our men want to feel important. We want to feel important. So it’s about establishing an environment in which that can happen. It can be hard because we get caught in the grind of life. Establish relationships with family members or friends and take turns with each other’s kids so you can make that time for yourselves. It doesn’t take a lot of money – wallets are tight right now – so just simple stuff. A night walk? Man, do I love those. Or pack a lunch and go to the park, like Will and I did. Even a drive – and then pull over on the side of the road! Think of places outside that are comfortable to have sex. Does he have access to his office? Have a fantasy date. Be his secretary! Be sneaky. Your girlfriend’s house at a party. The bathroom! A guest bedroom! Just switch it up. Anything like that can keep it going. Anything it takes to keep the flame alive.”
