If God says so. I don’t think he’s going to say so though!”
Mira Sorvino is one of the many actresses as-of-late that are choosing to give their acting careers the back seat to motherhood. The 42-year-old Mighty Aphrodite star and husband Christopher Backus are parents to three children- Mattea, 5, Johnny, almost 4, and Holden, 1 in June. The actress sat down with Parade to promote her latest flick, Multiple Sarcasms, and dished on her family life and her career.
On choosing family over career: “I don’t want to take time away from my kids [two sons and a daughter with actor Christopher Backus.] I used to work all year long and basically live in hotel rooms. Kudos to women who can pull that off, but I don’t want my kids raised by nannies. I have the best children and husband. I’m really, really blessed.”
On her role model- her mother: “My mother was a stay-at-home mom. She was amazing, always there for us. Somewhere I guess there is a middle ground, but you see your kids suffer when you leave them with someone else. And I already feel this future sense of loss – they’re going to grow up and go away and I’ll be alone. I’m so attached to my kids that I even hate to see my daughter go on a playdate. Sometimes I’m like, ‘Why don’t you stay here with me?'”

Dancing With The Stars host Brooke Burke, fiance David Charvet and the couples’ 3-year-old daughter Heaven took a Mother’s Day trip to the sunglasses shop yesterday (May 9) in Malibu, Calif. It looks like Heaven helped out mom pick the right pair!
The entrepreneurial mom-of-four sat down with Celebrity Baby Scoop late last year and shared her secret to being a working mom,
I don’t believe in total balance, it’s about making the most of everyday. It’s about listening to your children and your family. It’s about finding your own way and I’m feeling pretty confident in the decisions that I make. I learn as I go. I’m very flexible. I have my priorities set in the right order.
The couple are also parents to 2-year old son Shaya, as well as as Brooke’s children from her marriage to Garth Fisher, Neriah, 10, and Sierra, 8.View Slideshow »»
Cate Blanchett is certainly among the most well-respected and loved actresses of our time, having the pick of the top scripts, as well as hefty list of award nominations and wins under her belt. The 40-year-old is also mom-to-three boys, Dashiell, 8, Roman, 6, and Ignatius, 2 with husband of 12-years Andrew Upton. Blanchett, who said living in an all-male home is “Really loud. So very loud,” sat down with Times Online to talk about how motherhood has changed her and her career.
On motherhood: “It toughens you up and makes you more pragmatic, yet at the same time it turns you into a bowl of mush. You see a child in distress or a puppy waiting to cross the street and you just want to weep. Maybe that mix is good for an actor. I guess the great thing is that it increases your ability to switch on and off. The work is no longer the only thing in your life. Other things count – and count more.”
On planning her films based on her children: “Anyone with children will tell you the same thing. Starting out as single women, our first questions about any job are, ‘What kind of role is it?’ and ‘Who will I be working with?’. But as soon as we have kids, we find ourselves asking, ‘How long’s the shoot?’ and ‘Can it be done in the school holidays?’ Suddenly, your attitude becomes very pragmatic. It has to, because shifting your household to another hemisphere is a major upheaval and there has to be a pretty compelling reason for you to do it.”

My kids brighten people’s lives. It is so neat to have people walk into our house and watch the “fall in love” process, because they are so genuine.
