Sarah & Bristol Palin: “We’re Glad We Chose Life”

Sarah & Bristol Palin: “We're Glad We Chose Life”

Bristol Palin was faced with an unplanned pregnancy at the young age of 18. After giving birth to her son Tripp in December 2008 — and broke up with her boyfriend, Levi Johnston — the reality of single motherhood quickly set in.

I remember sitting on a black recliner, just bawling my eyes out,” Bristol tells In Touch. “I was just rocking Tripp to sleep because he had been screaming for so long. I was just like, ‘What am I going to do? This is as bad as it gets.’”

Though raising an infant has been challenging, Bristol has the unconditional love and support of her family, including her mother Sarah Palin. Just a year earlier at the age of 44, Sarah carried her son Trig to term, even though she was told during a sonogram that he would be born with Down syndrome.

The mother-daughter duo are sharing their unique experiences of raising baby boys together under the same roof. “The last few years have been unreal and surreal,” Sarah says.

Shannon Miller: “I Was Intimidated By Everything, Except Being On The Balance Beam”

Shannon Miller: "I Was Intimidated By Everything, Except Being On The Balance Beam"

Shannon Miller is the most decorated gymnast, male or female, in U.S. history with 7 Olympic and 9 World Championship medals. Now mom to 2 1/2-month-old son Rocco, this 32-year-old former Olympian is trading in her passion for the balance beam to help new moms balance their lives with a series of fitness DVDs and a prenatal cookbook. Not to mention her kids marathon to help raise awareness for childhood obesity.

Shannon sat down with Celebrity Baby Scoop for a look into her life as a new mom, her experiences as young Olympian and the beauty standards placed on female gymnasts.

CBS: You and your husband, John Falconetti, are new parents to 2 1/2-month-old son, John Rocco. How is motherhood so far? What are the biggest challenges? The greatest rewards?

SM: “Our son was born on October 28th at 7 lbs, 11 oz. And he is absolutely our pride and joy! I love being a mom and John is such a wonderful dad. It truly is a miracle how a baby changes your life. Things that seemed so important before take a back seat to Rocco’s smile. I love reading to him and kissing him. He is going to be so embarrassed by his mom! Mostly it’s just an adventure.

In the beginning the biggest challenge is getting sleep. Everyone tells you to nap when the baby naps……yeah right! You’re too busy doing a million other chores, working or just staring at him. It’s so important to take time for yourself or you’ll go crazy.

I’m ridiculous when it comes to schedules. I absolutely love them. So a big challenge is fitting my schedule and Rocco’s together so everything gets done. It’s become a game for me and when I check everything off my list I feel like I won.”

    What’s In Season This Week?

    What's In Season This Week?

    From Our Partner

Ah, Brussels sprouts. The origin of this small mini cabbage is obscure, though it is believed to have originated near Brussels (hence the name) in Belgium. Brussels sprouts are usually consumed cooked, and to prepare them, one should remove any wilted greens and snip off the rough side that was once attached to the stalk. They’re a great source of vitamin C (who knew) and considered “antineoplastic” because they contain naturally occurring chemicals that help fight against cancer. It seems like everybody hates Brussels sprouts. Continue Reading at to try out the listed recipes which just mightsway that opinion.

Milla Jovovich & Ever Gabo: Say Cheese!

Milla Jovovich & Ever Gabo: Say Cheese!

Actress Milla Jovovich, 34, and her beautiful daughter, 2-year-old Ever Gabo, enjoyed the sunshine as they played together at Coldwater Park in Beverly Hills on Tuesday (January 12).

Little Ever, sporting some very sweet, red Mary Jane’s, was all smiles as she climbed to meet her mom at the top of the slide. What a gorgeous pair!

In a recent interview with Parade, Milla shared her best piece of parenting advice:

You’ve got to know your kids like the back of your hand and make sure they’re honest with you and not scared to tell you things. I know when Ever goes to school I’ll be letting my little bird go, but I just want to make sure she tells me everything that happened, good or bad.
