Kristin Steede, who was the largest woman in Biggest Loser history at the time of her 2009 appearance on the show, is gearing up to gain – a baby!
The 28-year-old Wisconsin native took to her blog today (December 3) to announce the happy news:
I have taken three home pregnancy tests. After the third positive test and squeezing my sore tender breast about a million times it finally sunk in that this was real.
Kristin, who met Nick, her husband of five years, when she was in high school, credits her success in starting a family to her appearance on the show: “I truly believe with all of my hear that my weight was the one things that prevented us from starting our family sooner,” she writes. “I also believe that if it were not for the Biggest Loser I would not be experiencing this miracle today.”
Congratulations to Kristin and Nick!

Sarah Shahi has had a great year! Besides landing a starring role in the new USA series Facing Kate, the Life and L Word alum married actor Steve Howey in Las Vegas on February 6. Then in July, the 29-year-old actress and her new hubby welcomed their son, William Wolf.
“In a matter of seconds, you’re handed this life that you’re responsible for, and I was totally nervous,” the 29-year-old told Life & Style. “It’s a lot of trial and error. I still feel like a child myself!” But she’s adjusting well to motherhood. “Wolf is delicious. Everything he does is adorable — even his little farts in the bathtub. The tiny little bubbles that come up? They’re so cute! I am such a mom.”
Although she’s embraced motherhood with open arms, there was a time when Sarah thought children would not be in her future. “I came from a single parent household. And I had a bad example of what a husband and father could be and how irresponsible a father could be. So because of that I didn’t want to get married or have kids.”
But a negligent dad is no longer a worry for Sarah with hands-on, protective Steve, 32, who delivered Wolf during Sarah’s home water birth. “When I look at him as a father, he’s so sexy to me,” she says. “It’s such a turn-on to watch him with the baby.”
A seasoned entertainment news journalist and two-time Emmy-nominated TV personality, Samantha Harris is a celeb mom we love to watch. Best-known for co-hosting the hit ABC series Dancing With The Stars, Samantha is also a regular correspondent on The Insider. Samantha – who is mom to 2-year-old daughter Josselyn – opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her busy life and how she deals with mommy guilt, how she always makes time for exercise and her best advice for busy working moms.
CBS: You are mom to 2-year-old daughter Josselyn and you co-host one of the most popular TV shows, Dancing with the Stars. Not to mention your correspondent and fill-in anchor gig on The Insider. How do you do it all?
SH: “Like any working mom, it’s a daily juggle. Lots of balls in the air and you try really hard not to drop any. My daily organizer is my bible. Everything has a time slot. It doesn’t always go smoothly like clockwork but, at least, most things get done. I definitely put myself in last position on the list of priorities. The one thing I do try to do for myself and my sanity is get in some form of exercise 3-4 days a week (more if I can!).”
CBS: What is your best advice for working moms who suffer from mommy guilt?
SH: “We all can commiserate! It’s one of the most difficult inner struggles. I try to remind myself of what a great example working and striving sets for our daughter. To see both her parents out there accomplishing goals on a daily basis is a good thing!”
