Molly Shannon Opens Up About Motherhood

Actress, comedienne, and mom Molly Shannon is one of our favorite talents. Her hilarious Saturday Night Live performances (such as her “Superstar” / Mary Katherine Gallagher role) made her a televlsion star before she broke into film with roles in a number of movies like Shallow Hal and Marie Antoinette. Molly lives in California with her partner Fritz Chesnut and their two children, Stella, 4, and Nolan, 3. Molly recently sat down with Cookie magazine and discussed life as a mom.

On what her children do to make her laugh: “My daughter likes to be Fancy Nancy. The other day she spilled hot chocolate on herself and said, “Oh no, now I am not fancy.” Stuff like that makes me laugh. My son says “pusz” instead of saying “because,” which is pretty funny.”

On her favorite family ritual: “I like hanging out at home and having Sunday dinner with the family and relaxing.”

On her most frazzled mom moment: “A while ago, I was flying into LAX with my two kids. While I was at the baggage claim, I was trying to balance the stroller with both of them in it and carry the bags, and there was just a lot going on. The stroller tipped over and the kids screamed, just because they were scared. But they were fine. This kind of thing happens to all moms, but it was one of those moments when some photographers were around. You just want to say, “Not now. I am a mom, not a celebrity.””

On what parenting issue she and Fritz disagree most about: “Probably about giving my kids sweet treats. I like to give them, but he would prefer I didn’t.”

On what her parenting role is – good cop or bad cop: “Hmmm. We are pretty equal, but I guess I am the good cop.”

On what she wishes she had done before having children: “Nothing. I feel like I did everything I wanted to do.”

On what a typical Saturday morning in like in the house: “I wake up around 6:00 or 6:30 a.m. and make egg-white omelets and toast. We usually watch cartoons, and I read the newspaper. We also sometimes go to the park. But if we do, I have to take my allergy medication, Zyrtec, so I don’t have an allergy attack.”

On what her mom was most right about: “My mom died when I was very young, but I do remember that when I was young I worried about making friends. And she told me that she had a feeling that I wouldn’t have a problem making friends in the future. And I think she was right.”

On her guiltiest pleasure: “I always get whipped cream on my coffee during the Christmas holiday season.”

On her ideal getaway: “Anywhere tropical.”

On her favorite clothing item: “Black Diesel jeans with zipper pockets.”

On her current reading material: “How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish (Collins).”

On if she prefers to cook at home or eat takeout: “Cook at home.”

Jools Oliver Discusses Baby Number Three

Jools Oliver, 33, wife of famous TV chef Jamie Oliver, has always been open about her fertility struggle, due to PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome,) and recently sat down with Grazia magazine to reveal more details about conceiving their third child.

Jools admits to following Jamie around the country to make baby number three,

“I was getting trains and I was knackered and thinking: ‘All this just to do the do.”

The mom to two daughters already, Poppy, 6, and Daisy, 5, admits that the fertility drug that she used to help conceive, Clomid, caused side effects and made caring for her children more challenging,

“‘This time I have to take 100mg [Clomid] and it’s such a powerful drug that I felt pretty rough. I was dreading every month. I knew I could only take it for three before I’d need to move on to IVF. I got dizziness and funny vision and moody and spots, everything you don’t want as a woman, really. And it wasn’t great having children [to look after] when you’re that hormonal.”

Click “Continue Reading” to find out about Jools’ positive pregnancy test, and if she would like a boy or girl!

Jools opens up about the frustrations of a negative pregnancy test, and feeling like a first time mom again,

“The line was so faint that I convinced myself it couldn’t it wasn’t true… I still didn’t believe it so I kept drinking water and doing more tests. It got to 4am and I’d got four positive results, so I thought, it must be fine! I still got up in the morning and said to him [Jamie], ‘I haven’t slept, I can’t believe I’ve got something inside of me!’ That feeling of another life happening…it feels more weird this time.’”

When asked about gender preference, Jools admits,

“If I’m really honest, I’d like another girl. If Jamie could be really honest he’d say a boy. People reckon we shouldn’t say that, but I don’t know what the big deal is. I don’t think there is any harm in it.”

Jools and Jamie, who have been married eight years, expect baby number three on April 1st.
