Gay marriage making adoption easier,
“I would love to be a parent one day. Obviously it won’t be happening soon because I am still single. But having a family and bringing up children is something I have thought about a lot recently.
“Gay marriage and civil partnership is a great thing. It means more rights for same-sex couples.
“It is safer and there are relationships now that provide a perfect set-up for bringing up children.”

His plans for the future,
“I have just had the most amazing holiday at Simon Fuller’s place in France and I was in a reflective mood.
“I was thinking about the future and the idea of bringing up a child and helping them through life is something that appeals to me hugely.”
Looking after his niece and nephew,
“I took my niece and my nephew on an open-top tour bus recently and I absolutely love their company.
“You cannot patronise kids — they are so sharp.
“My niece was drawing pictures with me and she had drawn one of me that she wasn’t happy with.
“She said, ‘William, this is you. Something about it isn’t quite right. Let me see.’ I had long hair, then she drew a skirt on me. She is so young but astute enough to pick up on that. It was brilliant.”
How kids are getting bad press at the moment,
“I despair about how kids get such a hard time. Everything you hear is so negative. There are problems now but sometimes I find myself getting really angry because we never hear the success stories.
“There are brilliant children out there doing wonderful things. They deserve to be applauded and recognised.
“Stabbings, knife and gun crime are getting out of hand but we need to pay more attention to the achievements of the majority of young people who do well.”

On holding her for the first time:
Shane: “Christie held her first and when they handed her to me, I started crying,” He adds, “Holding your newborn child is a wonderful moment, but there was something extra special, because this is my first-ever daughter. They’d put a pink Babygro on her and wrapped her in a pink shawl, and I remember looking down and thinking, ‘Wow! I’ve got a little girl.’”
On having a daughter:
S: “I felt proud but at the same time anxious. With a boy, it’s different. Once they get older you can let them go, but with Lolita, I instantly felt very protective – it was overwhelming. She’s my little girl and I know it’s my job to keep her safe and that really got to me – I’ve had a lot of cowboys and now I’ve got my princess.”
On being a strict dad:
S: “I pity the poor boys that knock on the door when she’s a teenager, because they won’t get past – I’ll be the strictest dad in the world. I know what I got up to when I was a teenager – I know what blokes are like. She’s going to be a real Daddy’s girl. I’ll spoil her rotten – she’ll be able to have anything she wants. I want her to experience everything life has to offer.”

On helping Mackenzie adapt to the new baby:
S: “We’d got presents for him so he didn’t feel left out, and we made a real fuss of him. He wandered over to see Lolita and ended up giving her kisses and cuddles, which was lovely. I then sat him on my lap, with Lolita on his. I’m sure he’s going to be very protective of his little sister.”
On picking the name even though it’s the title of a novel about a sexually promiscuous girl:
Christie: “We both know the significance of naming her Lolita,” She adds, “I just thought it was a lovely name and didn’t think there was a big problem. With hindsight, there was always going to be a bit of backlash with Shane naming his daughter Lolita, because of his reputation for dating lots of women before he met me, but it’s not something we worry about.”
On being induced two weeks early because of suffering from restless legs syndrome:
C: “It was awful. I’d tried reflexology, osteopathy, physiotherapy, homeopathic tablets, quinine, hot baths, cold baths and sleeping tablets, but nothing worked. The last four months I averaged two hours’ sleep a night. My muscles would spasm every ten seconds and I’d end up in tears, so the doctors decided to bring things forward.”
On being in London Zoo with Mackenzie when Christie went into labour:
S: “Christie’s dad rang me at 5:30pm and I couldn’t find a cab anywhere! I was convinced I was going t miss my own daughter’s birth. I made it back in time, but then my phone rang in the middle of labour when I was holding Christie – with all the rush I’d forgotten to turn it off. It was Jake checking to see whether the baby had arrived yet, but I didn’t get a chance to answer it, because Christie shouted at me to put the phone down.”
On how terrified she was when Lolita stopped breathing eight hours after she was born:
C: “Shane had left at 1am and then at 4:30am Lolita started choking. I picked her up and called the midwife who ran out with her and gave her oxygen and put her under a heat machine. Apparently the mucus in her system had clogged everything up and she was fine, but it was so scary – she’d started to turn purple.”
On plans for more children:
C: “I’d probably like another two. I’d like to have all my children close together, while I’m still young. There’s 15 months between Mackenzie and Lolita and I’d really like to have another child next year.”
S: “I know that Christie would like to keep going and have some more children, and I’m happy with that. I think it’s every woman’s prerogative, so if she wants more children, who am I to say no?”

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which was formed by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in 2006, has made a $2 million donation to the Global Health Committee to establish a center to aid children affected by HIV/ADS and tuberculosis in Ethiopia.
The branch, to be named after their 3-year-old Ethiopian daughter Zahara Marley, will be modeled after the Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Cambodia. The center in Cambodia provides medical, education and social servies to impoverished Cambodian children.
“It is our hope when Zahara is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission,” Pitt said in a statement.
“Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease,” Jolie said in a statement.

Jade will now have to undergo an intense nine-week course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy to eradicate any remaining cancer cells and is still under sedation at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital’s intensive care ward.
Jade declared before the operation,
“I will fight the damn thing every step of the way. At the end of the day I am going to bloody beat this thing because I’ve got two amazing kids to live for. And there’s no way I’m gonna let them down.”
We wish her a speedy and full recovery!
