Joel Madden & Nicole Richie Explain Sparrow’s Unusual Name

Joel Madden & Nicole Richie Explain Sparrow's Unusual Name

Joel Madden and Nicole Richie have shed some light on the inspiration behind their new son Sparrow James Midnight’s unusual name.

“We have different tastes in names,” the House of Harlow designer tells People magazine. “Sparrow was one we both liked. I liked the way it sounded with Harlow.”

Joel adds, “It reminded me of the Johnny Cash song A Boy Named Sue. My worry raising a son in Hollywood is, what will he have to struggle for? I wanted to give him a name that he’s going to have to stand up for. I love it, I think it’s a beautiful name.”

The Good Charlotte rocker heaps praise upon his girlfriend Nicole, who he says is a wonderful mom to both Sparrow and big sister Harlow, 21 months.

“While I’m working, it all piles on Nicole. She takes care of the kids, and it never gets to her. She doesn’t feel like she’s giving up anything – she is wholeheartedly their mom.”

Mark Wahlberg Is In Love With Being A Dad

Mark Wahlberg Is In Love With Being A Dad

Eagerly awaiting the arrival of his fourth child with wife Rhea Durham, doting dad Mark Wahlberg recently revealed that nothing means more to him than fatherhood.

“My mission in life is to raise my kids right,” the Three Kings star told People. “With all the success I’ve had in the world, if I fail at that, my life means nothing.”

Mark’s brother Jim says the actor is a family man at heart, telling OK!, “He’s so in love with the idea of being a dad.”

“I saw him in the newspaper the other day,” Jim continues. “It was a paparazzi-type picture, and it was him and his son and his daughter at a pumpkin patch buying a pumpkin for Halloween. Those are the pictures you see of him, you don’t see him coming out of nightclubs. He’s in love with the idea of having a family and raising kids.”

Just last week Mark confirmed that the baby on the way is another girl! He and Rhea are already parents to Ella Rae, 6, Michael, 3, and Brendan, 1.
