Review: Art House – Make Drawing Fun!

Making drawing fun and easy for children ages 2 and up, The Art House, in conjunction with Therapy Inc., has created the first in a planned series of children’s instructional DVD’s. Volume 1 teaches children of all ages how to draw using basic shapes as a base to create the artwork of their dreams. Friends Tiffany Jennings and Amy Wilkes, both mothers, came up with the idea for the series when they realized there was a lack of educational and easy-to-follow art videos. Jennings, an elementary school teacher, and Wilkes, a USC School of Cinematic Arts graduate used their creative and innovative minds together to create the Art House. The DVD is simple to follow and has both live action and animation to keep children engaged. This is such a fun and educational video – my 2-year-old son absolutely loves it and we’re sure to get lots of good use out of it for years to come. Celebrity fans of Art House include Brooke Shields, Tina Fey, Kim Raver, Jon and Kate Plus 8 and Conan O’Brian. Go to the Art House webiste for further information on this educational DVD.

Laila Ali Shares Her Eco-Friendly Nursery Finds

Laila Ali is 36 weeks along with her first child, Curtis Jr. The mom-to-be has been busy setting up Curtis’ eco-friendly nursery. She blogged about the overwhelming amount of products out there – and how she, “managed to find some items” that she really liked.

Laila wanted to share her finds with her fans – some of which were Flushable Diapers by GDiapers and BornFree Baby Bottles.

Of course the true test comes when my son actually arrives and I have a chance to put all this stuff to use! But I have done a lot of searching and have narrowed my choices down pretty well. Not to mention, I am very particular so I think I have some good picks!

Laila also talked about her decison to ‘go green’ in the nursery,

I am trying to stick to products that are earth friendly and free of chemicals that can be harmful to children. You know, I am trying to follow the advice I have learned in books such as Raising Baby Green. It is not always easy so I am taking it slow.

She went on to talk about the final details on her to-do list like finding “a good pediatrician” and researching cord-blood banking.

Laila plans to have a home birth after seeing by Ricki Lake’s The Business of Being Born.

To see all of Laila’s nursery picks hop on over to her blog.

Last Day To Enter: UV Skinz Sun Protective Swim Shirts

Mompreneur Rhonda Sparks is the creator of UV Skinz - sun protective swim shirts as seen right here on one of Marcia Cross’ twins. Rhonda created the company after her husband Darren, who was only 32-years-old, died from skin cancer. Amidst her grief, Rhonda researched skin cancer and learned that just one severe sunburn during a child’s first 15 years could double the chance of developing skin cancer as an adult.

Rhonda’s loss inspired her to create UV Skinz, sun protective swim shirts that carry a UPF rating of 50+, which block out over 98% of the sun’s harmful rays, protecting delicate skin from damaging sunburns. Sunscreen isn’t always enough, is often used incorrectly, and may be irritating to some skin types. UV Skinz use breathable fabrics that are silky soft to the touch and have no chemicals, irritating seams, or appliqués that may bother the skin.

We’re giving away 10 UV Skinz shirts to our readers! Five are the Casey shirts for boys and five are the Olivia shirts for girls.
