Janet Lansbury (formerly known as Janet Julian) was a model and actress in classics such as The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, B.J. and the Bear and Knight Rider to name a few. Once she had children, she left Hollywood and found her life’s work in parent education and now teaches RIE parenting classes in Los Angeles. Janet sat down with Celebrity Baby Scoop to discuss her parenting philosophies, encouraging us to listen and respect our babies “from day one as unique individuals.” As a mother of three who left Hollywood, Janet also talks about her “huge admiration” for celebrity moms and the unique pressures they face as mothers.
CBS: You were a successful model and actress and left showbiz when your children arrived. Was this a hard decision for you?
JL: “It was hard only because I had been an actress and model for all of my adult life and that was a big part of my identity. I never loved acting, and, despite my successes, often felt ‘at sea,’ or under water in the entertainment business, and I really can’t explain why I stayed with it so long. Maybe I needed inspiration to let go and move on to something else. Having children, and the desire to be there to raise them, finally gave me the nudge I needed.”
CBS: You are now a parent educator. Please tell us about your parent/infant guidance classes and your philosophies.

Leaving the glitz and glamour of the Golden Globes behind, actress Vera Farmiga braved the rain with her 1-year-old son Fynn today as they headed into LAX airport to catch a departing flight (January 18).
Vera was nominated last night in the Best Supporting Actress category for her turn opposite George Clooney in Up in the Air, but lost out to Precious star Mo’nique. The 36-year-old mom will next be seen in the romantic comedy Henry’s Crime.View Slideshow »»
Sweet in every sense, these Angela Frost’s Flutter Leggings are simply adorable! Available in 8 sugary colours, they have the most beautiful design adorned with lots of sparkly rhinestone “sprinkles” in sizes that range from 2T=6X.
My daughter is the girliest girl you can imagine and anything sparkly, glittery or just plain pretty is right up her alley. The Lace Icing With Sprinkles leggings are gorgeous and work with many of her outfits, whether it be tunic tops, dresses or tees. They are great for all seasons and are made from a no sag, no snag performance nylon lycra in a capri length. The one thing I was concerned about was whether the rhinestone “sprinkles” would fall off over time however, after 3 months of wash, wear and tear, these leggings still look as good as new and not one of the beautiful decals have come loose.
All of the legwear by Angela Frost come beautifully packaged in a cute round gift box, tied up with a ribbon and silver foil butterfly gift card. They would make a unique and luxurious gift for that special princess!

Harrison Ford is one of America’s greatest movie stars, having starred in classic films such as Star Wars and the Indiana Jones movies. His latest film, Extraordinary Measures, hits theaters on January 22. The beloved action hero sat down with Parade and discussed his favorite role of all: Fatherhood.
“My children have taught me a lot about parenting,” he says. “My first child was born when I was 25. Babies raising babies is not a pretty sight. I am much better at it now.”
At 67, he has found himself in the unexpected role of being the father figure to a young boy while also being the grandfather of two. Harrison has two sons, Ben, 42, and Willard, 40, by his first wife, Mary Marquardt, and has two children, Malcolm, 22, and Georgia, 18, by his second wife, screenwriter Melissa Mathison. His youngest is 9-year-old Liam, whom he “inherited” when he fell in love with the boy’s mother, actress Calista Flockhart, 45.
When talking about Liam, Ford’s eyes light up. “On the weekends, I do whatever Calista and Liam want to do,” he says. “We’ll take a couple of hours on Sunday morning to go motorcycle riding or go for a hike. I just made a birdhouse with my son.”
Is having a 9-year-old boy at this time in his life an unexpected joy?
Yeah,” Ford nods. “I wasn’t expecting it at all. The unexpected part was certainly true and the joy part is also true. I think Liam was about 6 or 8 months old when I met him and Calista. We have been together ever since.”
Bryce Dallas Howard is bravely coming forward about her battle with postpartum depression following the birth of her first child, Theo, in 2007.
It’s brutal. I’m a total optimist and it was shocking to face that; I didn’t expect that at all,” the 28-year-old mother of one star said during a recent appearance on The View. “At first I called it postpartum denial because you’re like, ‘I just feel like a zombie,’ and then it gets worse and worse.”
The young mom admits that she lost herself in her acting roles as a dose of therapy. “Everything I was feeling, I could at least explore it in a character.”
In addition to her artistic outlet, Bryce admits much of her recovery was due to the support she received from her friends and family. “I felt really, really fortunate because I had an incredible support group around me – a lot of women don’t,” she said, and added that it made “all the difference in the world.”
Theo, 2 ½, is Bryce’s first child with husband Seth Gabel.
