Kelly Ripa: “You Work On Your Marriage The Same Way You Work At Your Job”

Kelly Ripa: "You Work On Your Marriage The Same Way You Work At Your Job"

With their 14th wedding anniversary coming up next year, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have one of Hollywood’s longest and, by all accounts, happiest marriages. In a new interview with Redbook magazine the 39-year-old Live with Regis and Kelly host is full of praise for her very handsome husband (“That gorgeousness, those teeth, that jet black hair…”), with whom she has kids Michael, 12, Lola, 8, and Joaquin, 6. The busy mom dishes on everything from dealing with “Mommy guilt” to her golden rule for her kids – and also shares her best advice for a long-lasting relationship.

On dealing with Mommy guilt: “Initially, we would never leave the kids alone with a babysitter. But then Mark would say, ‘We are going out to dinner,’ and I would say, ‘Without the kids?’ And he would say, ‘Yes. Because that’s what grown-ups do.’ It was something he forced me to do, and now I think to myself, The kids will be thrilled. They know the babysitter is going to let them watch TV and eat cookies. So that’s the balance Mark introduced to me. I know there are people who are good at dealing with this stuff, but I think the majority of women feel tremendous guilt.”

On being a work in progress: “There are still nights when, if I’m feeling really guilty about leaving the kids, I’ll pick a fight with Mark over having nothing to wear. Which is a lie. I’m like, ‘I’m not going! My throat hurts! I have nothing to wear!’ And he’ll say, ‘Which is it?’ I’m like, ‘I have nothing to wear and, yes, I think my throat may be hurting soon.’ We’re evolving.”

    Kendra Wilkinson's Holiday Surprise

It’s a year of firsts for Kendra Wilkinson and husband Hank Baskett as they gear up to spend their first Christmas together as a married couple and parents to newborn son, Hank IV.

To celebrate, on the day of his son’s arrival (December 11), the 27-year-old wide receiver surprised his wife with a special gift: “For the baby gift, he got me a little egg locket,” Kendra gushes to OK!. “I’m gonna put a picture of him in it.”

“It’s a little blue egg necklace,” she explains. “With a little bow tie on it to represent our baby boy.” She adds that Hank also gave her a charm bracelet on it with charms for both her and the baby along with a diamond heart.

“I’m gonna get one for Hank too,” says Kendra. “So it’s like a family charm bracelet. That was very special to me.”

The new mom says that welcoming baby Hank during the holiday season was the best gift of all:

He completes the family. It’s so cool how this little baby, this little bundle of joy, just brought all families together. Hank’s family was out here, everybody was out here for this. Not one person was missing.

Olympic Figure Skater Michael Weiss: I Can't Wait To Take My Son To The Olympics

Michael Weiss is a three-time national figure skating champion, a two-time World bronze medalist, and two time Olympic team member. The 33-year-old accomplished skater has taken his skills on the road with the Smucker’s Stars on Ice Tour. The father-of-two opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about life on the road, his love of skating and the unique ways he stays in touch with his family while on tour.

CBS: You and your wife Lisa are parents to two children, Annie-Mae, 11, and Christopher, 10. What is it like to be on the road and away from your family while on tour?

MW: “The bad part is being away from them for 5 months, but the great thing is I have nothing to do for the other 7 months!! While I am on the road, I do as much as possible to stay in their lives day to day. That means helping with homework over the phone, having them read to me over the phone, and sometimes I call them, and put the cell phone in my pocket while I’m skating and performing in the Smucker’s Stars on Ice show – and talk to them while I’m doing a group number :) They love it, and I get a kick out of it too.”
