The news that Ricky Martin recently became a dad to twin boys may have come as a shock to many, but friends of the Latin singer have no doubt he is going to be a great father and that he’s wanted children for a long time,
“I know Ricky will be as good a papi as he is a dancer,” said Rene Ruiz, a friend of Martin. “His kids will be livin’ la vida loca!” Another Miami friend stated, “Ricky is a very giving person, and will make a wonderful parent. He has wanted his own children for quite a while.”
Ricky told People years ago that he wanted children long before the twins’ arrival,
“I would love to have children of my own because I know I can offer them a good life. I genuinely like kids.”
Ricky founded his own Foundation, ALAS, to provide aide and support to underprivileged children. He’s also been a key supporter of children affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

A lot of people were fairly shocked when Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale revealed the name of their new son to be Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale, but an Us Weekly expert, Pamela Redmon Satran, did her best to explain the name.
“They’ve continued their own place-naming tradition by naming their son after Zuma Beach in Malibu,” Satran explains, citing a profile of Rossdale which said he had an epiphany that began his career. “He was standing on Zuma Beach in the early morning after working all night as a production assistant on a music video and was quoted as saying he realized he was wasting his time,” Satran says. “He drove up the coast, slept in his car, and started making the moves that would launch his career.”
Zuma is also the name of an album released by Niel Young and Crazy Horse in 1975. Nesta, meanwhile, was Bob Marley’s first name before an immigration official switched it with his middle name, Robert.
“This name obviously links to big brother Kingston’s and is another nod to Jamaica and reggae,” says Satran.
And of course, the name Rock is self-explanatory, given that the baby’s parents are rock stars, Satran says, and the fact that we’re “long overdue for a Rock Hudson-inspired revival.” It may also refer to No Doubt’s third album, Rock Steady, which was recorded primarily in Jamaica. (Big brother Kingston was named after the capital city of Jamaica.)

As we reported yesterday, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are the proud new parents of son, Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale. Gavin’s father Douglas said that everyone is thrilled about the news,
“Everyone is just so very happy. It’s fantastic news, and I’m just so happy.” He added that he “can’t wait” to meet his new grandson. “I’m always proud of Gavin and my grandchildren,” he added.
Gwen and Gavin’s first son, the adorable Kingston, turned two in May.
On being a mom, Stefani has said,
“I definitely don’t get enough sleep, but I’d rather spend time with him. I’ve got this extra-fun, amazing, little guy who just wants to hang out with me.”
We hope Gwen is recovering well and we can’t wait to see pictures of the new little guy!
