Update: Madonna’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, says reports that Madonna wants to adopt a girl named Mercy from Malawi are false, “There is no truth to this rumor. It’s an old one – wasn’t true then or now. Madonna is starting her tour in a week.” Liz did not say Madonna will never adopt again. Perhaps this is something that will happen after her tour?
Madonna is set to adopt a girl, it has been confirmed. The singer has almost finalized the adoption proceedings to adopt 3-year-old Mercy James from Malawi now that her marriage to Guy Ritchie is stronger. Malawian officials say she is “on the cusp” of completing the process. Penstone Klembe, Malawi adoption minister, confirmed this news,
“Madonna’s representatives have been visiting the girl. The adoption is now advanced – all the government is waiting for is Madonna to forward the petition of adoption formalities. Then Mercy will be able to leave the country for a new life.”
According to friends, Madonna, 49, and Guy, 39 renewed their bid to adopt Mercy after working to save their marriage following rumors the singer was having an affair with Alex Rodriguez,
“The adoption process in Malawi is so long and stressful that all the legal wrangling put a huge strain on their marriage,” a source said. “They dropped proceedings to pour all their energies into each other. But Madonna now feels they are stable enough to press ahead with the adoption again.”
However, Mercy’s family are reportedly opposed to the adoption. Her grandmother, Lucy Chekechiwa, 60, stated that she is “firmly against” Mercy being adopted outside of her home country,
“We know that it is Mercy who Madonna really wants. We heard it is because my granddaughter is such a beautiful, happy child. Twice I have told the adoption people that I do not want Mercy to go outside the country. But they keep on at us. Now they say that Mercy will be leaving us, but can return at age 18. Yet I might not be alive then.”
The couple originally bid to adopt Mercy last year, but it was dropped after the girl’s uncle, John Nglanade blocked the application.

Jennie Finch, member of the USA defending gold medal softball team, is currently competing at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. The downside? Being away from her 2-year-old son, Ace Shane, with husband (Minnesota Twins AAA league pitcher) Casey Daigle. Jennie said she is keeping in touch with Ace over the phone while she competes in China,
“The other day we counted to 11 on the phone. You just have to kind of trick him, you know, to talk about giraffes or elephants or something like that. He told me he loves me to the moon and back the other night. They did say though that he saw me on TV the other night at Opening Ceremonies and he shouted, ‘Momma’ and was jumping off the couches, so, that kind of made it all better, knowing that he’s hopefully a proud two-year-old back home.”
Jennie is also known for her role on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice last winter.

It’s no secret that former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham wants a little girl - but sources close to Posh say a fourth could damage her body,
“She wanted to try for a baby after the Spice Girls finished touring. But she’s put her plans on hold while she sees what can be done to help her. She knows she is putting her health at risk if she dismisses the advice of her doctors and has another C-section.”
Victoria and husband David Beckham have three boys, Brooklyn, 9, Romeo, 5, and Cruz, 3, whom were all delivered via c-section. What do you think – will Vickie be too posh to push the 4th time around?

Making drawing fun and easy for children ages 2 and up, The Art House, in conjunction with Therapy Inc., has created the first in a planned series of children’s instructional DVD’s. Volume 1 teaches children of all ages how to draw using basic shapes as a base to create the artwork of their dreams. Friends Tiffany Jennings and Amy Wilkes, both mothers, came up with the idea for the series when they realized there was a lack of educational and easy-to-follow art videos. Jennings, an elementary school teacher, and Wilkes, a USC School of Cinematic Arts graduate used their creative and innovative minds together to create the Art House. The DVD is simple to follow and has both live action and animation to keep children engaged. This is such a fun and educational video – my 2-year-old son absolutely loves it and we’re sure to get lots of good use out of it for years to come. Celebrity fans of Art House include Brooke Shields, Tina Fey, Kim Raver, Jon and Kate Plus 8 and Conan O’Brian. Go to the Art House webiste for further information on this educational DVD.
