Mary-Louise Parker: I Always Dreamed Of Adopting

Mary-Louise Parker: I Always Dreamed Of Adopting

Ever since she was a little girl, Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker dreamed of adopting a child. The Emmy-nominated actress recently discussed her family of three with PEOPLE at a benefit for Worldwide Orphans Foundation. The 44-year-old single mother of 5-year-old William Atticus, her son with former boyfriend Billy Crudup, made her childhood dream a reality when she went to Africa with Worldwide Orphans and made Caroline Aberash, whom she calls Ash, part of her family.

On always wanting to adopt: “I would daydream about it all the time. I thought about the fact that there were children who didn’t have anything, and I felt like I could help. It was something that weighed on me.”

On adopting her daughter Ash from Africa: “It was something I did for the world and for my son and then for me. And when I say the world, I also mean my daughter. Once I knew her, she became part of that. But it’s hard raising two kids as a single person. It’s a lot of pressure.”

On wanting a full-time partner to share the pressures of parenthood: “Sometimes, sure,” says Parker, who has been single since her relationship with actor Jeffery Dean Morgan ended earlier this year. “I wish I could give them everything that was a perfect little family paradigm, but I can’t. Honestly, I feel like that doesn’t even exist, or at least I try to tell myself that when I am feeling bad about not providing it.”

Ellen Pompeo’s On Set Baby Bump

Ellen Pompeo's On Set Baby Bump

A very pregnant Ellen Pompeo was spotted waiting in between takes of T.R. Knight’s character Dr. George O’Mally’s funeral on the set of Grey’s Anatomy on Monday (July 27) in Los Angeles, CA. The 39-year-old actress was also photographed arriving on the set of her popular TV show.

Now that T.R. Knight has left, show creator Shonda Rhimes recently said she is ready for everyone else to follow.

“We’re heading towards the future of the show and eventually, unless we’re really lucky, everybody’s going to go. That’s what the end of season five taught me. So we’re looking at how do we mess with that structure now while we have everybody and figure out ways in which, ‘What would we do without Ellen? What would we do if we had an episode without Patrick Dempsey?'”

Would you still watch Grey’s if Meredith and McDreamy were gone?

Katie Holmes and her 3-year-old daughter Suri Cruise were spotted running around the front of an old convent before Katie began her night shoot on the set of Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark in Melbourne, Australia on Tuesday (July 28).

The 30-year-old Dawson’s Creek actress had a narrow escape on the set of her new film when the car she was sitting in almost caught fire. Reportedly, Katie had been filming scenes in a BMW when moments later black smoke began billowing from under the hood. The Melbourne film crew immediately removed a faulty battery from the car.

    Heidi Klum’s Coldwater Canyon Bump

    Heidi Klum's Coldwater Canyon Bump

An expectant Heidi Klum was spotted playing with her three children – Leni, 5, Henry, 3 ½, and Johan, 2 ½ – at Coldwater Canyon Park in Beverly Hills on Monday (July 27). At one point, little Leni had to help mom get up which made Heidi laugh. The Project Runway host and her hubby Seal are expecting their fourth child – a girl – in October.

Reportedly, the 36-year-old supermodel sparked a water balloon war between parents and members of the paparazzi earlier this month when the snappers refused to leave her and her kids alone during a visit to a NYC playground. Fellow parents at the playground were not pleased with the prying shutterbugs and asked them to leave. When the paps ignored their requests, the angry parents began pelting them with water bombs, forcing Klum to flee the chaos. Could it have been this outing that caused all the commotion?

Jennifer Garner & Violet: Sunday Shoppers

Jennifer Garner did some organic shopping on Sunday (July 26) at the farmer’s market in Pacific Palisades, CA. Jen arrived at the market with her 3 1/2-year-old daughter Violet Affleck, but as soon as she started to shop around the nanny did her best to keep Violet out of sight. The paps caught the adorable mother-daughter duo doing some taste testing.

Jennifer and hubby Ben Affleck are also parents to 6-month-old daughter Seraphina. Jen has just returned to work on her new film, Valentine’s Day. Meanwhile, Ben is busy filming his new movie, The Company Men.

    Lance Armstrong’s Littlest Fans

    Lance Armstrong's Littlest Fans

Cyclist Lance Armstrong had an adorable entourage waiting for him at the finish line of the Tour de France yesterday. The 37-year-old was met at the Champs-Elysees in Paris by his mom Linda, girlfriend Anna Hansen, daughters Isabelle and Grace, 7 1/2, and sons Luke, 9 1/2, and Max, 1 1/2 months.

A 7-time Tour champ, Lance seemed to take his 3rd place finish in the gruelling 2,141 mile race in stride, saying, “It’s probably a good lesson for my kids. Either to their friends or at their school, they’d say their dad never lost a Tour, and that’s not always the best lesson in life. If their dad came back after a bunch of years off and finished third, that’s another lesson.”
