Courteney Cox Arquette is currently promoting her new movie, the Disney blockbuster Bedtime Stories, with Adam Sandler. The 44-year-old mother of one, best known for her role as Monica Geller in the popular television sitcom Friends, recently talked about her new film, her marriage to David Arquette, her friendship with Jennifer Aniston and her 4-year-old daughter Coco.
On the joy of being a mother: “I can’t imagine life without a child; I don’t even remember what it was like four years ago. Coco is everything to me. We did a lot of in vitro fertilization, and it was tough. But we’d waited a few years before trying, and in retrospect I would say: don’t wait as long as I did, especially if you want more than one child.”
On if her career has had to take a back seat since being a mom: “Not at all, because until Coco starts school I can take her everywhere I go for work. She came with me to Mexico at four weeks old, she’s been to New York ten times.”
On her recent flick Bedtime Stories: “I was so excited to be part of a movie I can watch with Coco. She [Cox’s character Wendy] is a headmistress whose school closes. She has to look for a new job, and there’s no one to look after her two children except her hotel-handyman brother Skeeter [Sandler]. It’s a wonderful family film, a fairy tale for everyone.”

On Coco’s favorite bedtime stories: “Coco’s favorites are Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast – she’s totally into princesses.”
On Christmas in the Cox-Arquette household: “Christmas is insane in our house. I say: “Let’s buy Coco one good toy”, but he wants to buy her 900 presents. Our compromise lands closer to David.”
On Coco’s devoted godmother, Jennifer Aniston: “Coco calls her Noona, which is Greek for godmother; they see each other and play together every weekend. The other day Jen came over with her yoga teacher and Coco stuck it out for an hour doing yoga with them!”
On her marriage to David Arquette: “I don’t like to make plans because it makes me feel trapped, whereas he likes to know exactly what he’s doing; he’s happier with defined boundaries. But we have a good balance. He’s got the best heart, he’s so giving, he’s smart and creative and he’s gorgeous. Even though he acts kooky, David is as grounded as anyone I’ve ever met.” Courteney goes on to discuss marriage in general: “Is marriage for ever? I think you get married with the intention that it will be, but who knows? I get shocked by people getting divorced all the time, that’s why I choose to work on it. Therapy helps us. It’s so easy to grow apart; marriage takes work. I suppose you can work it out by talking to each other – I would just prefer to have a referee, it reminds us why we’re together.” Courteney outlined how her own parents divorced when she was a child. “Before my dad died, he said one of his big regrets was that he hadn’t worked on their marriage enough. I don’t know what the future’s going to hold, but divorce isn’t really an option.” Courteney added that she and David don’t argue about work, “It seems like it would be the worst thing in the world but we manage to handle it really well. We argue, but never about work. We love being together. Every Sunday we have people over to our house. David does the barbecuing, and we have a fantastic chef, Patrice, who makes great salads, vegetables and fish. Sunday is my favorite time because it’s really about friends.” When asked if these friends include Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher, Courteney said, “And, yes, Jen’s there just about every Sunday.”
On her friendship with Jennifer Aniston: “We’ve known each other nearly 15 years now, we grew up together emotionally. I lost my father, Jen got divorced, and I had a baby. We’ve been through huge life changes together. I can be myself around her. We never judge each other, we support each other, but we’re honest with each other too. I feel lucky to have her.” When asked about Jen’s love life, Courteney said, “I want for Jen whatever she wants; she’s really happy at the moment, so I don’t have to worry about her.”
On having any plastic surgery: “I’ve done Botox, and there were times when I thought, “That was nice”, but I had one bad experience when I wasn’t able to move my face for two or three months.” When asked if she’ll do it again, she replied, “I don’t know. I’m sure I’ll be tempted when I get older, but you see too many people who look really strange.” She added that David doesn’t think she needs any improvement. ‘He loves the ageing process; he thinks it’s beautiful. Right now, I don’t do Botox – or anything except this,” she said, pointing to a variety of creams and serums by Kinerase, the American skincare company for which she’s spokesperson.
On her next project: “I’ve just closed a deal to do a TV comedy called Cougar Town. I play a 40-year-old divorcée from Florida who’s attracted to younger men and has a teenage son.”
On her dreams for 2009 and beyond: “I’d love to work with Morgan Freeman and Meryl Streep. And I’d love to direct more.” (She has already directed her friend Laura Dern in a short film.) “And I’d like another child, and maybe if it doesn’t work, I’ll adopt. There’s no doubt that motherhood is the best thing in my life. It’s all that really matters.”

Helena Bonham Carter was spotted in Malibu with her 12-month-old daughter Nell and their nanny, who has a style similar to Helena’s. The trio spent the day shopping and hanging out at the playground.
When the 42-year-old actress was pregnant – she limited her intake of coffee, but admits it was tough to give it up entirely. “I didn’t drink caffeine as much as I would normally and try to restrict myself to one cup of coffee a day. One of my favorite dishes is carpaccio and I love sushi but I avoided them. Obviously anything with raw eggs was forbidden, too. “

Update: Brian and Leighanne Littrell have updated Brian’s website with the condition of their 6-year-old-son, Baylee. We reported on Friday that Baylee was hospitalized and undergoing “treatment.” Baylee has now been diagnosed with A-Typical Kawasaki Disease, an inflammation of the arteries that typically afflicts children. Following is Brian’s latest website posting:
“On Saturday December 20, 2008, Baylee T W Littrell was released from Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. Before being admitted Baylee had been treated for or thought to have had strep throat, hand, foot, mouth disease and erythema multiforme. After receiving a biopsy, blood tests, an EKG and 2 echocardiograms, Baylee was finally diagnosed with A-Typical Kawasaki Disease. We would like to stress A-Typical because Baylee did not have text book symptoms of any of the viruses they thought he had.
Kawasaki Disease causes inflammation in the coronary arteries as well as the walls of the small and medium sized arteries throughout the body. Unfortunately, Baylee’s coronary arteries were affected. He received an IVIG, which is a treatment to bring down the inflammation in his coronary arteries. Baylee will be closely monitored for the next 6-8 weeks by a Pediatric Cardiologist to see if the treatment was effective.
We want to thank every one who prayed for us as well as all of the emails and phone calls. Your love and support means so much to our family. The Hospital Staff were absolutely amazing. They made an extremely difficult time in our lives as comfortable as possible. We are humbled by the love and compassion that people have for our son all over the world, thank you!
Brian and Leighanne Littrell”

“For those of you who do not know or have not heard, Baylee Littrell has been in the hospital for the past few days. He will be starting a treatment this afternoon and the Littrell family asks that all Backstreet Boys fans please remember him in prayer during this trying time. Every little prayer helps and every single prayer counts! Brian and Leighanne would also like to wish you all Happy Holidays and thank for your thoughts and prayers….More information will follow and we will definitely keep you all updated…..”
Incidentally, Brian was also sick as a child. At the age of 5, he took a tumble from his tricycle that his doctors later assumed signified the start of a bacterial infection that began circulating in his blood. The doctors told his parents to prepare for the worst. His recovery was a “miracle” according to his family.
Our thoughts are with the Littrell family.

2008 has been a big year for Clay Aiken, between his welcoming son Parker, now 4 1/2 months, in August, and coming out to People magazine. Clay spoke to People again about his year, his plans for the future, and what he feels is most important in his life.
“At the end of the day, Parker is the most important thing of the year, and of my life, without question. Having a son and that type of responsibility is obviously going to be something that I remember forever.”

As for his coming out, Clay says that, while there has been negative attention, he has also been “very impressed and my heart has been thoroughly warmed to find people very supportive.”
The 30-year-old singer plans to be return to being a full-time parent with Parker’s mom, Jaymes Foster, in North Carolina in January, after his run on Broadway’s Spamalot comes to a close.
“I want to spend time with Parker. He’s still uber-dependent,” Aiken says, laughing. “I’m ready for him to start talking. I’m ready for a little action!”
He also plans to return to his singing roots, saying,
“We’ll take a little bit of time, we’re not quitting or anything, we’re just gonna take it slow for a month or so and recollect once I get back,” he says. “I may never have any free time once Parker starts walking and talking!”
