The Desperate Housewives star, who was spotted on a shopping trip with her girls in Brentwood yesterday, recently shared her top parenting tip with Entertainment Tonight.
“I would say use humour instead of getting into that whole yes and no thing all the time,” Marcia, 47, reveals. “Because obviously they have a free will and they want to do what they want – it’s about just getting them to laugh rather than getting in power struggles. Then they develop a sense of humour and that’s been a great thing for me. I’m not one for thinking I’ve mastered motherhood but I have found that works really well.”
Do you have any tried-and-true parenting tips to share?

Madonna’s ex issued the following statement in response to the news:
“I fully supported Madonna in her decision to apply for this adoption, and I am saddened that her application has been rejected. She is motivated only by being a caring parent who seeks to share some of the advantages and opportunities that her life has given her.”
The director added, ”Madonna is a fantastic and loving mother who cares deeply about her own children, and children who may need additional help and support. This time it did not work out, but there will be other opportunities and I wish her well in them. She is a great mum.”
Madonna, 50, and Guy, 40, who were married for 8 years before their split in 2008, adopted their son David, 3, from Malawi.
Madonna’s latest adoption bid was rejected due to a residency requirement – which was waived for David’s adoption – that states that prospective parents must spend at least 18 months in Malawi. Her legal team has already filed an appeal.
Madonna is also mom to daughter Lourdes, 12, and son Rocco, 8.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen were photographed with Tom’s 18-month-old son John ‘Jack’ Moynahan spotted on a beach in Costa Rica as they celebrate their recent wedding with family and friends.
While the couple are holidaying, controversy is stirring as a result of Gisele’s recent Vanity Fair interview. The 28-year-old supermodel admitted she’s never met John’s mother Bridget, but said, “I understand that he has a mom, and I respect that, but to me it’s not like because somebody else delivered him, that’s not my child. I feel it is, 100 percent. I want him to have a great relationship with his mom, because that’s important, but I love him the same way as if he were mine. I already feel like he’s my son, from the first day.”

In the interview, Gisele – who recently wed Bridget’s ex Tom Brady – talked of her relationship with her stepson John, 18 months, saying, “It’s not like because somebody else delivered him, that’s not my child. I love him the same way as if he were mine. I already feel like he’s my son, from the first day.”
A close friend of Bridget’s tells People magazine that Bridget is not pleased.
“Bridget has her own life, she doesn’t need to be involved in the drama of all this, and she finds it disrespectful that her son is being paraded around in front of the paparazzi when she’s specifically made it a point of keeping him away from that.”
I can count on two hands, in two years, the number of times Bridget has been photographed with that baby. I can count on two hands the number of times in the past month that Gisele has been photographed with that baby.”
The source had some harsh words for Tom Brady, as well:
“If Tom is such a great father as everyone likes to say, then you would think that he’d respect the privacy of his young child and would ask his wife not to use his son as a publicity prop and a subject of public discussion.”
What do you think of Gisele’s comments, and of the response from Bridget’s circle?
