Giada de Laurentiis, the celebrity chef on Food Network’s Everyday Italian and author of two New York Times best-selling cookbooks, is on the cover of this week’s Page Six Magazine. The 38-year-old new mom talks about welcoming marriage and a child into her life, her sex appeal and her future projects.
Giada is married to Todd Thompson, a fashion designer for Anthropologie. The couple welcomed their first child, Jade Marie De Laurentiis Thompson, on March 29, 2008. Giada said she wasn’t sure she’d ever get married or have children,
“I never cared about marriage. I was more worried about working, and really didn’t think I’d have kids. Then Todd turned 40 and I guess he thought to himself, ‘I think I’d like to marry Giada.'”
Giada hopes to instill an appreciation for her home country (she was born in Rome) in her daughter. Giada sings Jade the Italian lullabies that were once sang to her as a child. Her husband has his own family traditions to pass down to Jade,
“He will always tell the story of how his grandmother would take him to McDonald’s and Burger King. And he says, ‘I can’t wait to take Jade.'”
Giada admits she dresses somewhat sexy on her show, but denies an intentional seductive approach,
“Porn? I’m not doing porn! What the hell are people talking about? [It’s not] PBS-style cooking. I mean, I love Lidia [Bastianich], but [she’s] kind of boring. And Mario Batali [I] love to death…but he’s not romantic or sensual. Those are the things I bring to the table.”
Giada’s popular show, Everyday Italian, is now on a break but the celebrity chef has been ‘cooking up’ a plethora of other projects to fill her plate. She is working on a new show, Giada at Home and a fourth cookbook.

Buccaneers kicker Matt Bryant and his wife, Melissa, lost their 3-month-old son Matthew Tryson Bryant on Wednesday. Matt’s coach, Jon Gruden, announced the news today.
“My understanding was the young man didn’t wake up this morning. It’s shocking.”
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Debbie Carter said the baby’s mother discovered the infant was not breathing as she made the rounds to wake up the other children — Daniel, Jacob, Joshua, Madison and Tre — for school. The death is not considered suspicious, Carter said.
The family also released a statement,
“Tryson enriched our lives for the short time that he was with us and we will never forget his smile. We know Tryson’s death has deeply touched the community and we appreciate the love and prayers from our Buccaneers fans.”
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Tryson’s name to March of Dimes, 405 N Reo St., Suite 105, Tampa, FL 33609. For more information, call (813) 287-2600.

Gillian Anderson, 40, who is eight months pregnant, was at the London premiere of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People on Wednesday night. She joked with reporters that she’s ready to pop any day now,
“I’m so close to popping out.”
In light of the eccentric names some celebrities give their babies, Gillian said she’s decided not to go that route,
“I have chosen something, but I don’t think it’s crazy.”
Gillian gave the audience quite a scare when she lost her balance and fell to the floor that same night. As director Robert Weide introduced the movie, also starring Kirsten Dunst and Megan Fox, Gillian stumbled on stage. Weide assured the audience that Gillian – who is expecting her third child – was fine. “Is there a lawyer in the house?” he joked.

Second Update: Sharon Stone’s lawyer, Marty Singer, says the court clerk made an error when reporting that Sharon Stone had lost custody of oldest son Roan. The clerk wrote that Sharon had lost “sole physical custody,” but then said that “custody, visitation, holiday, and vacation schedule shall remain in place as outlined.” Sharon actually petitioned the court to allow Roan to attend a school closer to Sharon’s Southern California home. The statement from the lawyer says,
“The court order of 2007 provided that Roan was to go to school in San Francisco. Sharon went to court to try and modify the existing order,” Singer says. “She wanted the court to modify the order so her child could go to school in Los Angeles. But the court felt that, for whatever reason, that she did not meet a burden to move him out of San Francisco during the school year. She thought it was best at this young age that she had these two younger children to have her older son be with them and the court didn’t want to modify the order. She loves her son and felt it would be better to have her child in Los Angeles.”

Update: According to minutes from a Sept. 12 custody hearing, the court feels that Roan, who is living with his father, Phil Bronstein, and attending school in the Bay Area, will have a more stable home with his father. The court also ruled that Roan will remain with Bronstein until Sharon relocates to San Francisco or Bronstein decides to move.
“The court does not find that (a) move away is in child’s best interest,” say the minutes. “(Bronstein) can provide a more structured continuity, stable, secure, and consistent home that child, Roan, needs.”
Stone “shall have access to child,” the minutes say, and her phone number “shall be programmed into the child’s telephone and home phone.”
Sharon Stone has lost physical custody of her eight-year-old son Roan, according to a court minute obtained by Entertainment Tonight. The order is permanent unless there is a change of circumstances.
According to documents detailing a September 12, 2008 custody hearing, her ex-husband Phil Bronstein “shall have permanent sole physical custody of child. Court finds that respondent [Sharon Stone] failed to meet her burden of proof and denies respondent’s [Sharon Stone’s] request for modification of custody.”
Sharon and Phil had joint legal and physical custody of Roan since October 2007.
