It has been two months since news broke of Matthew Settle and wife Naama Nativ's split, and the Gossip Girl dad is experiencing the lingering emotional pain that comes with it. The actor revealed to People how he is coping, saying, "I'm not enjoying it … it's tough."

Settle, who recently shared the small things he misses most about his family life, adds that he is unsure of the custody situation with 1-year-old daughter Aven. He revealed, "Until the divorce is over, it's tough to know how much time I’m going to spend with [1-year-old daughter] Aven and how the chips are going to fall. So I hope for the best."

Like many divorced couples with children, Settle says that he and Nativ plan to do what's best for their daughter, adding, "I think that we'll be good co-parents. And we'll do the best we can."

Settle, 40, and Israel-born actress/model Nativ, 26, eloped in a small ceremony in 2006.

After a trying year, Gossip Girl co-stars Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle have found support in one another as they both try to focus on their kids after the break-up of their marriages.

"He's going through his own thing, I'm going through my own thing – we kind of just support each other," Kelly said at this week's New York premiere of the Discovery Channel's film, Life. "We both have small children that we really love, so we both just talk about them the whole time."

Matthew Settle and wife Naama Nativ are getting ready to celebrate their daughter Aven’s first Hanukkah – and Christmas! The Gossip Girl dad tells OK! that his family of three blends different traditions during the holiday season.

Her mother’s doing the menorah,” Matthew says. “They like Christmas, so we’ll do Christmas as well, and trees are pretty – they smell nice. I guess we’ll get a real tree for her. The most exciting thing I’m looking forward to is watching her try to open a gift. I know at this age, they just want to eat the box.”

The 40-year-old father of one couldn't help but gush about his 9-month-old little girl.

“She’s crawling around and pulling herself up,” Matthew says. “When she does things like pull herself up to stand, she looks at us for approval and smiles, like ‘look at me, I’m standing.’ She talks. She goes ‘yah, yah, yah, yah,’ and she says ‘dada’ but she doesn’t know what it means. I’m trying to get her to say ‘mama’ because it’s not fair if she just says ‘dada.’”

The proud papa went on to say that his favorite thing to do with Aven is make music.

“I just bought her a piano,” he says. “A little pink piano on 58th Street at one of those piano stores. It’s actually called My First Piano. I play guitar, and she sits at the piano and bangs on it. That’s pretty fun.”

The young cast of Gossip Girl will soon be on diaper duty if co-star Matthew Settle has his way.

The 40-year-old actor, whose daughter Aven is 6 months old, tells OK!, I’m going to make all the kids change her diaper just so they can get experience.”

If they need any help, Matthew is willing to share his expertise: “I’m really good. I’m an expert. We have a song. [sings] ‘Diaper girl, diaper girl, diaper girl in a diaper world. [ends singing/commercial voice] Diaper girl! Diapers not included.’ It makes her laugh every time.”
