A child's name is sometimes a very difficult thing for two parents to agree upon. Once you finally come up with something that works for both - especially if it's original and different - you hope no one else chooses that same name for any reason whatsoever. It seems new parents and R&B royalty Beyoncé and Jay-Z are taking strong measures to ensure that very thing doesn't happen to them.
According to Rolling Stone, the power couple have filed an application - made through Beyoncé's company BGK Trademark Holdings - with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to protect the name of their infant daughter Blue Ivy Carter. They have reserved the right to their daughter's name for possible use as a brand name for a line of baby-related products, including carriages, diaper bags and baby cosmetics.

On the heels of her first postpartum outing, Beyoncé stepped out again Tuesday night for husband Jay-Z's second Carnegie Hall concert. On her website, the new mom shared the details of her fabulous ensemble from her Monique Lhuillier dress to her Chanel purse. And look at her blue nails and accessories in tribute of their sweet daughter!
The Daily News reports that the Grammy Award-winner "never stopped dancing" during the show, and she "cried when he sang Glory," his song to their newborn daughter, Blue Ivy.

A month after welcoming her first child, Beyoncé, 30, was spotted on her first postpartum outing late Monday night (February 6) in New York City. Celebrating husband Jay-Z's double concert dates at Carnegie Hall, the new mom flaunted her gorgeous post-baby body in an orange, hip-hugging Alice Temperly dress, accompanied by a pair of signature Christian Louboutins.
"It was amazing," she told New York's Daily News Monday night of Jay-Z's debut show, which benefitted his Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation and the United Way. The proud new dad included an emotional performance of the song that features his newborn.

Reps for Beyoncé and Jay-Z may have declined to comment about the rumor that the couple asked Oprah Winfrey to serve as godmother to their newborn daughter, Blue Ivy, but someone is talking.... Oprah's BFF Gayle King. And according to Gayle, if Ms. Winfrey was bestowed the honor, she doesn't know it yet!
"It's absolutely not true that she's the godmother," King explained Friday (January 27) on CBS This Morning.

New York City's Lenox Hospital is quickly becoming famous as the birthplace of baby Blue Ivy Carter. As congratulations have poured in for proud parents Beyoncé and Jay-Z, there's also been criticism over the past few days over the A-list treatment the stars reportedly received at Lenox.
Other parents at the hospital over the weekend have complained that the famous couple's intense security detail - they reportedly paid to have the entire floor on lockdown - made it difficult for them to see their own new babies. With hospital administrators vowing to look into the matter, NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg has now waded into the controversy as well.
