Desperado star Antonio Banderas, 51, graces the November issue of AARP and opens up about family life with Melanie Griffith, becoming a stepfather, and the secret to their successful high-profile marriage.

On becoming a stepfather: "It was hard because the kids had to accept me, and I was totally inexperienced. Suddenly I had a 6-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, and Stella came along almost immediately. I was, "Oh, my God!" But as soon as the kids knew that I was there to stay, they were fine. They needed solid ground in which they could grow. As soon as I realized that, I started establishing my relationship, giving them security, little by little doing the father thing. It took less than a year for them to realize that I was not temporary. [Now] hey call me Paponio — Papa and Antonio. But Dakota is 22 already, and she's making movies. And Alexander is 26 and living in New York. And Mama and I have been together for 17 years now."

Happy Birthday to the Griffith-Banderas'!

Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas celebrated their birthdays with a family holiday in Marbella, Spain on Monday (August 9). Melanie celebrated her 53rd birthday yesterday while Antonio celebrates his 50th today!

The couple were with their 13 1/2-year-old daughter, Stella, while enjoying their shopping trip in the Spanish port. The family took a stroll around the resort and shops where Melanie eyed a few watches and jewelry pieces.

Stella is the only child for the longtime couple. Melanie also has two other children from previous relationships: daughter Dakota, 19, and son Alexander, 24.

Antonio Banderas and wife Melanie Griffith were spotted with their 13-year-old daughter Stella and Melanie's mother, screen legend Tippi Hedren, out for a walk in Central Park West, New York City on Sunday (November 29). Antonio looked like he was making a point about something important, and Melanie seemed to be the only one listening.

Tippi and Melanie walked affectionately arm in arm during their travels. Melanie is the only child for Tippi, 79, who starred in films such as The Birds, The Pretty Girl and Marnie.

We just saw the Griffith-Banderas' checking out the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in New York City from their apartment on Thanksgiving Day.

Antonio Banderas and his 12-year-old daughter Stella were spotted on their way to Barnes & Nobles bookstore in Hollywood yesterday.

The Zoro star has shot down rumors of a rift between he and his wife of 13 years Melanie Griffith, who recently re-entered rehab, telling Extra!, "She's doing fantastic and very little of what is being published is true. I am not going away."
