Matthew Fox Explains Why His Marriage Works

Matthew Fox Explains Why His Marriage Works

Lost star Matthew Fox is quick to dismiss the recent rumors of his infidelity in a new interview with Playboy magazine.

"The story is not true, and I’m not going to comment [further] on it," says Matthew, who has been with his wife Margherita for 23 years.

Calling her his "best friend" and "the love of my life," the 43-year-old actor explains what makes their relationship work.

"We have managed to both be intensely independent and maintain that strength in our relationship," he says. "I am a man, and I am an appreciator of women. At the same time, Margherita is the s---. I can honestly say we're good together."

After having spent the past several years living in Hawaii, the couple, who are parents to kids Kyle, 12, and Byron, 9, look forward to making a new home in Oregon when Lost ends its run later this year.

While he admits that "it will be hard for the kids to leave their friends in Hawaii," the former Party of Five star says he can't wait to live closer to his family on the West coast.

"I miss having four seasons," he says. "My brothers are two of my closest friends in the world. I want to spend time with them and my mother while I can. I want our two kids to be close to their first cousins."

Matthew Fox Trades TV Time For Family Time

Matthew Fox Trades TV Time For Family Time

When millions of fans bid farewell to Lost next year, the show's star Matthew Fox will be bidding farewell to TV period... for good.

The 43-year-old small screen veteran says he will be sticking to films from now on.

“I am not going to do television again. That is not because I think film is better than television. Not at all, in some respects some of the best story telling is happening on television," he tells TV Guide. "I have done two TV shows — Lost and Party of Five — that have each run for six years. When you add it all up it is in the vicinity of 300 hours of television. I want to find a way to have more control over when I am working and when I’m not. I’m looking for more flexibility.”

Matthew will be putting his newfound spare time to good use - he plans on spending it with his kids Kyle, 11, and Byron, 8.

“I am (43) and a father of two children, and I don’t want to miss them growing up. I don’t want to find myself 10 years from now feeling like I was an absentee father because I was so focused on my career.”

Matthew Fox & Family: When In Rome...

Any Lost fans out there? Matthew Fox, who plays Dr. Jack Shephard on the hit ABC show, was spotted doing some sightseeing in Rome, Italy yesterday with his wife Margherita, their 8-year-old son Byron and his mom.

The group took in several of the city's attractions, including the spectacular Colosseum.

The Fox family, which also includes 11-year-old daughter Kyle, have been splitting their time between Hawaii and LA while Matthew films Lost, but he says they'll relocate to Oregon once the show wraps up next year.

“I have a lot of family there now,” Matthew told Good Morning America earlier this year. “My brothers have kids, and we’ve been talking for ten years about living closer to each other so that our kids can have good first cousin relationships.”
