Cat Cora Dishes On Dinner Time Rules

Cat Cora Dishes On Dinner Time Rules

Cat Cora is one busy mom! The 42-year-old wife and mother-of-four is the only female chef on the series Iron Chef America, is executive chef for Bon Appetit magazine, is creating a line of pots and pans, is a published cookbook author, and has founded the charitable organization, Chefs For Humanity.

In an interview with WebMD the Magazine, the celebrity chef opened up about teaching her four sons, Zoran, Caje, Thatcher, and Nash to eat well, her partner Jennifer, and how she balances her busy career and family life.

On getting her children involved with meal planning: "Jennifer and I introduced spices -- ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg -- when the children started eating rice cereal to help develop their palates by balancing the savory with the sweet. And we get the kids involved in meal planning, so they're invested. "Don't want broccoli tonight? OK, how about carrots? Great!" The more you do it, the more they get used to it."

On her dinnertime routine: In the evening we cook one meal. This is dinner, that's it. After that, the kitchen is closed. If they don't eat, I say, "OK, guess we'll be having a big breakfast in the morning!" It only takes one or two times and they get it. My kids are just like everybody else's out there. It's hard when they're younger than, say, two-and-a-half to do this, but after that age they're able to understand."

Cat Cora Welcomes Baby Boy Nash!

Iron Chef Cat Cora, 42, and wife Jennifer, 37, have welcomed their fourth child – a baby boy named Nash Lemuel Cora!

“Cat gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on July 19th at 4:41pm,” her rep tells OK! “He weighed in at 7lbs 5oz and measured 20 inches.”

Nash’s name means “the adventurer” which the couple found appropriated since Cat did a lot of traveling over the past few months. He also shares his name with poet Ogden Nash as well as John Forbes Nash, the Nobel winner and inspiration for A Beautiful Mind.

Lemuel is Cat’s grandfather’s name and means “Gift from God” in Hebrew. Nash joins three older brothers Zoran, Caje and Thatcher, who Jennifer gave birth to in April.

Cat and Jennifer planned their pregnancies close to one another, revealed the chef in an earlier interview with OK! “We decided that having them a year apart is harder than having kids as infants together. [Jennifer] carried my embryo and I carried hers. It’s like surrogating, but obviously all of our kids are equal.”

The couple, who have been together for ten years, used the same sperm donor for their two recent additions as they did for their two older sons.
