Oksana Grigorieva's Pregnancy Was "Difficult" Amidst The "Lies"
According to Oksana Grigorieva's mother Lyudmilla Chernukha, her daughter's pregnancy was "difficult" amidst the negative media she and her boyfriend Mel Gibson received.
Mel and Oksana welcomed daughter Lucia two weeks early on October 30. Chernukha told People she is "delighted" with the baby news and she can't wait to meet her granddaughter.
I'm very pleased for her because during her pregnancy she worried a lot because of all the bad press written about her. Lots and lots of lies," Chernukha says. "Her pregnancy was a hard one even though she had no [medical] problems with it. And, of course, Mel supported her and so did all her friends. She doesn't make any statements or get involved with refuting what's said about her. She just tries to keep herself closed off from all the journalists."
Grigorieva's pregnancy was announced six weeks after Gibson's wife of 30 years, Robyn Moore, then 53, filed for divorce. Gibson, 53, and Moore have seven children together. Grigorieva, 39, has a son, Alexander, 12, with James Bond actor Timothy Dalton.
Update: Mel Gibson Welcomes Baby Girl Lucia!
Update: A rep for Mel Gibson has confirmed to PEOPLE that he and his girlfriend have welcomed a baby girl: “This will confirm that Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson welcomed the arrival of a baby girl named Lucia on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles,” says Mel’s rep, Alan Nierob.
A friend of the couple tells PEOPLE: “Everything is great! They couldn’t be happier. Everyone's healthy and thrilled. He loooves it!”

Mel Gibson & Oksana Grigorieva: Lunching In SoHo
Mel Gibson and his pregnant girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva were spotted leaving Balthazar restaurant in SoHo, New York City on Wednesday (October 14). Oksana draped her jacket over her baby bump while Mel held his arm around her.
Mel, 53, who filed for divorce in April (09) from his wife Robyn of 28 years, is expecting his eighth child with Oksana. This will be Oksana's second child. She is already a mom to 12-year-old Alexander, her son by James Bond star Timothy Dalton.
Oksana recently said that she and Mel have no plans to wed:
Actually we have no plans to marry whatsoever. I haven't thought about it – we haven't spoken about it."
The couple are expecting a girl this December.

Mel Gibson's pregnant girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva was spotted arriving at her London hotel on Tuesday (Sept. 22) after appearing on GMTV to promote her new album.

The 39-year-old musician told contact music she is feeling relaxed about their impending new arrival:
I've been a mother for 12 years so there's no first time mother's trepidation. Naturally, it's more relaxed and I'm very dynamic, so the pregnancy falls into my work schedule." She added that the pregnancy has strengthened her relationship with Mel, "How could I not be impressed by such an intimate connection with a miracle of life. Children are beautiful."
During her appearance on GMTV, Oksana said that she and Mel have no plans to wed: "Actually we have no plans to marry whatsoever. I haven't thought about it – we haven't spoken about it."

Mel & Robyn have seven children together ranging in age from 10 to 28 years. This will be Oksana's second child. She has an 11-year-old son, Alexander, with James Bond actor Timothy Dalton.
Oksana recently revealed they are expecting a girl. She is due this fall.
