Jon Voight can't help gushing about his grandchildren, especially 4-year-old Shiloh. The Lone Star actor was at a gala in Los Angeles on Sunday when he spoke to US Magazine about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter's fashion sense.

"Shiloh's an amazing person," he said. "I look at the way she dresses and she has a style! And she's only 4-years old! I'm going, 'What!?'"

Proud grandpa Jon Voight is employing technology to stay connected to his grandchildren while shooting his new television show, Lonestar, in Texas.

The film veteran recently reconciled with daughter Angelina Jolie after their 8-year-estrangement and is just getting to know her six children with partner Brad Pitt - Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, Shiloh, 4, and 2-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

“It’s hard for me to be away from my grandkids, yes, but I’ll stay in touch with them,” he told PEOPLE at the Lonestar pilot screening at the Paley Center in LA. “Thank god we have this technology, and you know, we use all of it.”

By technology, Voight is talking about Skype – an internet phone system: “We’re just setting it up now,” he explained. “Anyway, I love being in touch with the family.”

The 71-year-old actor went on to say how much he admired his daughter’s work, especially in her latest thriller, Salt.

Her work is terrific. And Angie, for some reason, has this emotional capacity to make every piece of this really authentic, 'cause it's really unreal stuff that they're doing. But that's the genre and she gives … another energy to it.

“She’s very, very good,” he continues. “It’s not like a novelty. She’s really doing it.”

Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, father of Angelina Jolie, has played many different roles but his favorite is grandpa.

Every stage of your life has delight, thank god, and also dramas," Voight told Us. "But, oh my gosh, being a grandfather is the most wonderful thing!"

Following a seven-year rift, Jon and Angelina reconciled earlier this year. Angie cut off communication with her father in 2001 after he publicly stated that she suffered "serious mental problems."

In late February, Jon joined Angelina, her love Brad Pitt and their six kids - Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, Shiloh, 3 1/2, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 22 months - in Venice, Italy. The group were seen going for a boat trip down the city's Grand Canal. Soon after the excursion, Jon said it was "a very beautiful trip...It's nice to have something that's positive."

Grandpa Jon added Monday, "I hope to see [the kids] soon."

Reunited and it feels so good! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were photographed with her father Jon Voight and four of their kids - Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, and Shiloh, 3 1/2 - in Venice, Italy on Sunday (February 21). Angie and her dad have had a rocky relationship for years. While there's been murmurs of a reconciliation for months, today we see that the rumors are true. So nice to see them together again!

The 34-year-old beauty and her dad have been estranged since 2001, when Voight made an appeal on television for her to get help for "her serious mental problems."

On another note, this really looks like Shiloh! Her hair even looks blonde under there. Will the debate rage on?
