Brandy: Sy'rai Has The "Entertainment Bug"

A former child star herself, Grammy-winning mom Brandy says she feels a connection to the kids who are featured on her new reality show Majors & Minors, which pairs aspiring singers with seasoned pros. In an interview with Parade magazine, Brandy reflects on the role that music has played in her life - and reveals why she's trying to keep the "entertainment bug" at bay for her 9-year-old daughter Sy'rai.
On Sy'rai following in her footsteps: "She loves to sing and dance. I'm trying to keep her life as normal as possible, but I'm definitely encouraging her to do what she loves to do. She's a little bit shy to sing in front of me now, but I've caught her singing and she sounds great. I know she has the entertainment bug. I'm just trying to have her hold out for a little bit until she gets older."

The pressure is on Brandy as she and partner Maksim Chmerkovsky are among the final four on Dancing With The Stars. But the singer has other things on her mind, too – like having more kids, and soon.
“I want three boys,” she says. “I just think boys are cool. I have a precious little girl [Sy'rai, 8] and I think she’s awesome. I just want to keep her my special little girl and then have the rest boys.”

Having survived another round of elimination this week of Dancing with the Stars, Brandy isn't the only one who's relieved. Her 8-year-old daughter Sy'rai is also thrilled to know that mom's dancing days aren't over just yet.
"She comes every week. This is like the highlight of her life," Brandy said during a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. "She's just so proud and so happy to see me on TV. When she was born she wasn't able to see everything that I was doing before. So for her to see me popular and dancing and doing things, she's so proud."
