Chris Rock: My Kids Don't Think I'm Cool

To the rest of us Chris Rock may be an uber-famous funny man and film star, but to his daughters Lola, 7, and Zahra, 5, "I'm just Dad," the actor says.
Though the Death at a Funeral star tries to be a cool dad - "I'm in show business," he points out. "I can introduce them to Hannah Montana.... I introduced them to Justin Bieber the other day" - he admits, "As much as I try to be the cool dad, kids just don't think you're cool."
As for fatherly advice, Chris tells iVillage he tries to encourage his girls to take care of each other and to "figure out how to slow it down."
"Relax, take your time... figure out how to slow it down. Normally, in life, when trouble occurs, people speed it up, but if you learn how to slow it down at trouble, you'll probably get through it."

Gorgeous group! Funnyman Chris Rock and his wife Malaak Compton-Rock took their two daughters - Lola, 7, and Zahra, 5 - along with a family friend to Nickelodeon's 23rd Annual Kids' Choice Awards held at UCLA's Pauley Pavillion in Westwood, Calif. on Saturday (March 27).
The little girl Malaak is holding recently threw Chris into a whilrwind of infidelity/lovechild rumors. As it turns out, she is a family friend from South Africa.
The child in the photograph with Chris Rock that appeared in the New York Post is the daughter of a family friend from South Africa whom [his wife] Malaak Compton-Rock met through her charity endeavors over the years," a rep for Chris said. "She visits often and when here is a joy to the Rock family."

With just one photograph, Chris Rock, who has kept a low-profile as of late, has been thrown into a new batch of infidelity/lovechild rumors. The actor was spotted at the Trump International Hotel in New York with his 5-year-old daughter Zahra holding onto his hand, while carrying a young girl in his other arm, the photo can be found on PEOPLE.
In 2007, Rock faced a paternity suit with a woman living in Georgia, Kali Bowyer, who wrongly claimed that her teenaged son was fathered by the actor. Eventually a DNA test showed this to be untrue. It appears though that this case may be following him around, as the media quickly questioned whether or not this young girl could possibly be a lovechild from an affair.
A rep for the comedian put rumors to rest, saying, "The child in the photograph with Chris Rock that appeared in the New York Post is the daughter of a family friend from South Africa whom [his wife] Malaak Compton-Rock met through her charity endeavors over the years. She visits often and when here is a joy to the Rock family."
Rock and wife Malaak Compton-Rock who were married in 1996, also have a 7-year-old daughter, Lola.

Chris Rock's Daughter Inspired New Film

Funny dad Chris Rock tackles a rather unusual subject matter in his new movie: Hair.
Chris says that the flick was actually inspired by his daughter, who asked, "Daddy, how come I don't have good hair?"
"One day, I was in the car with my daughter and her little girlfriend, who happened to be white, and she was raving about her girlfriend's hair, and she used the words 'good hair' to describe it, and it kind of made me jump a little bit," Chris tells MTV. "I started thinking about my daughter, and I started thinking about the Bronner Bros. Hair Show ... and here we are with Good Hair."
To film the documentary, which focuses on African-American women's perceptions of hair and beauty, Chris traveled to the Bronner Bros. Hair Show in Atlanta, the Dudley's Hair Care & Cosmetics plant in Greensboro, North Carolina and even as far as India.
Chris and his wife Malaak are parents to girls Zahra Savannah, 5, and Lola Simone, 7.

Chris Rock and wife Malaak Compton enjoyed a sunny day out at a park in Malibu with their two daughters, Zahra Savannah, who turns 5 next month, and Lola Simone, 7 in June.
The 44-year-old comedian, actor, screenwriter, television producer, film producer and director has been married to Malaak for 12 years. She is the founder and executive director of StyleWorks, a non-profit organization that provides free services for women leaving welfare and entering the workforce.
