Julianna Margulies On Raising Son Kieran: Everything In Moderation

In the hit series The Good Wife, Julianna Margulies plays Alicia Florrick, a lawyer who spends her days upholding the law in a courtroom and laying down the law for her philandering politician husband, played by Chris Noth. But in real life the actress is much more willing to bend the rules, especially when it comes to son Kieran, 2.

"Everything in moderation, I believe,’ Julianna says. ‘I let my son watch TV on weekends, but as a child we weren’t allowed to watch TV; we didn’t even have a TV."

Julianna Margulies: "It's Tricky Being A Working Mom"

Mom-of-one Julianna Margulies graces Harper's Bazaar's January cover. The star of The Good Wife opens up about her "surprise" pregnancy and how she balances motherhood and career.

On balancing motherhood and career: “It’s tricky being a working mom. You feel guilt all the way around. You want to be there for your husband, be there for your kids, be great at your job, all that stuff. But at the end of the day, if you put everyone in front of you, what happens to you?”

Julianna Margulies Needs A Nap

Reprising her role as Alicia Florrick in Season 2 of the hit show The Good Wife, Julianna Margulies is back to juggling her duties as an actress and as a mom to her 2-year-old son Kieran. Life is busy, but the hands-on mom has no complaints... well, maybe just one.

"Really, the hardest part of my job is the fact that probably just I'm averaging 4-5 hours a night of sleep," Julianna tells USA Today. "And for me, there comes a point you hit a wall and you just fall down. That's the only complaint I have, and it's because I choose to wake up with my kid every day at 6 a.m. I don't have to. I choose to because I want him to know I'm around. So I'm always on this constant search for a nap. It seems to be my goal in life."

Juliana Margulies Nursing Son's Broken Arm

Julianna Margulies was on Late Night With David Letterman on Wednesday when she spoke about nursing her 2-year-old's broken arm.

The Good Wife star had left Kieran, her son with husband Keith Lieberthal, in a friend's care when the curious tot fell from a seven foot ladder.

She said, "It was an indoor playground and they had a little loft thing with a slide and he just learned how to climb, and in a split second - look, I wasn't there. I'm not saying it wouldn't have happened had I been there. But you turn your back, he's two-and-a-half, and he's up the ladder. He's actually quite a cautious kid and he just missed a rung."

Margulies said she doesn't hold a grudge against the caretaker and didn't name who it was. She clarified that if the accident did happen on her watch, "the guilt would be greater."

Julianna Margulies On Cheating, A Perfect Day

Julianna Margulies On Cheating, A Perfect Day

Julianna Margulies is not an infidelity expert, but she plays one on TV as a betrayed wife on CBS’s hit show The Good Wife. In the September issue of REDBOOK, Margulies opens up about cheating, life as mom to 2-year-old son Kieran and her TV career.

On the time when she felt like a great wife: "There was one perfect day recently when I got up at 5:30 with the baby, went to work at 6:30 for 12 hours, grocery shopped, cooked dinner, and then later, my husband and I made love. We both looked at each other that night and said, 'This day will never happen again!'”

On why we don't see more women in the news as cheaters: "The answer is simple: We are tired! With all of the things we do in our lives, what woman has the time to fit in an affair?"

On cheating: "I think that when you have gotten things out of your system, you are less tempted by distractions. My only temptations now are chocolate and martinis. I think the hardest thing about cheating would not be the physical act; it would be the trust you break. If you decide to take that person back, you have to make a deal to trust again. I’m very happy with where my life is, but for someone like Alicia, whose husband has jumped in bed with a sexpot, the temptation of being sexually desirable is huge."

On how her TV career began: "ER was my breakout role. I auditioned on a whim. When I got that part, my character was originally supposed to die. At one point George Clooney called me and said, 'I think you are going to live.' And I was on the show for six seasons."

Julianna Margulies Covers W Magazine

Award-winning actress Julianna Margulies sizzles on the cover of the May 2010 issue of W magazine. From an "amazing" job to a very happy home life with her husband Keith Lieberthal and their 2-year-old son Kieran, the 43-year-old star of The Good Wife talks about having it all.

What am I going to say to my child? ‘I know you don’t see me all week long, so Mommy’s going to go get a facial on Saturday?’ I know this is going to sound corny, but I love my life. I love my baby, so I love getting to wake up with him. And I have the most amazing job.... And I love coming home to my husband. Julianna Margulies Doesn't Want Her Son To Be An Actor

Emmy Award-winner Julianna Margulies might love her profession, but she’s hoping her son Kieran Lindsay, 2, won’t want to follow in her footsteps.

“Listen, whatever he wants to do I will support wholeheartedly,” she tells Moviefone. “But I hope he doesn't want to become an actor.”

Adds the 44-year-old actress, “I love what I do, but it’s not easy.”

I think for most people it's not an easy profession, and certainly a very difficult profession to break in to, so if he does want to be an actor, then at 18 he can make that choice. Until then, he's going to school.

Julianna, who also stars in The Good Wife, goes on to express her excitement about her latest film, City Island, and how the timing of the shoot was perfect:

“I had just had my baby, and it was so good to be out of my own skin for a minutes, and get back into acting and to sort of find my identity again as an actor,” she explains. “And to be able to play someone so out there, it was just fun to disappear.”

Kieran is the only child for the former ER star and her husband of nearly three years, Keith Lieberthal.

Moms Hit The SAGs Red Carpet

Moms Hit The SAGs Red Carpet

Mom-to-be Paula Patton was aglow on the red carpet at last night's Screen Actor's Guild awards in Los Angeles, California. The Precious star, who is expecting her first child with hubby Robin Thicke, dressed up her bump in a white strapless tulle gown.

White was a hot color among the A-list moms at the star-studded event: Kate Hudson turned heads in a backless white Pucci gown and mom-of-two Kyra Sedgewick was gorgeous in Vera Wang. Up in the Air star Vera Farmiga opted for an off-white J. Mendel and Toni Collette shone in an empire-waist gown with gold details.

The always beautiful Mariska Hargitay injected some color into the evening with her magenta Vera Wang gown as did funny mom Tina Fey in a purple satin knee-length dress and Juliana Margulies in a blue velvet Narciso Rodriguez gown.

Which mom had the best red carpet look at last night's SAGs?
