Giada De Laurentiis & Her Kidstock Kid

What a cutie! Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis and her adorable 2-year-old daughter Jade Marie attended the 4th annual Kidstock Music and Arts Festival in Beverly Hills on Sunday (June 6). Jade's father is Giada's husband of 7 years, fashion designer Todd Thompson.

The 39-year-old Everyday Italian star says that motherhood has changed her for the better.

Well, it definitely changed my workload. Ha! But at the end of the day, I think I was more selfish before I had Jade. Kids help you become more compassionate. I joined the charity Oxfam, which helps to improve kids' lives all over the world. I realized that I wanted this world to be better. I stopped thinking of just my own mortality; I started thinking about the life we're leaving for someone else."

Giada De Laurentiis Covers Shape

TV chef Giada De Laurentiis talks family, fitness and - what else? - food in the December 2009 issue of Shape magazine. The 39-year-old Food Network host and her husband Todd Thompson are parents to 20-month-old daughter Jade Marie.

On her upcoming 40th birthday: ""I can't believe it myself. I think we all look in the mirror and see that 25-year-old. But as long as you're eating well and moving your body every day, age is just a state of mind."

On her post-baby diet - no sugar or cheese for 6 months!: "I gained 22 pounds, which doesn't sound like much, but I'm only 5'3", so it was a lot for my height. Because I had a C-section, I couldn't work out for a long time afterward, so I knew the best way for me to lose weight was through diet. The first two weeks were hard, but I got over the hump by eating a lot of fruit and replacing sugar with healthier alternatives, like brown rice syrup and agave nectar."

Giada De Laurentiis Talks Food & Family

Everyday Italian star Giada De Laurentiis graces the cover of the May issue of Redbook magazine.

The chef extraordinaire dishes on family life with her husband of 7 years, fashion designer Todd Thompson, and their 14-month-old daughter Jade. It seems little Jade has inherited her mom's culinary love: "She sits on my hip when I cook," Giada, 38, says."And there's such amazement in her eyes."

Here are some of the interview highlights:

On how motherhood has changed her: "Well, it definitely changed my workload.

On cooking with kids: "Jade and I cook together. She crawls around me in the kitchen. Now she's at a point where she wants to see what's happening, so I pick her up. I give her little tastes of the food and she's like, 'Mmm!' Sometimes there's nothing on the spoon and she still goes, 'Mmm!'"

Giada De Laurentiis Trying To Balance Career & Motherhood

Food Network host and celebrity chef, Giada De Laurentiis, opened up about balancing her life with 6-month-old daughter, Jade, and her career,

"[I am trying to find a balance] Between not giving up everything that I used to do, and not missing out on anything that my daughter does," she said. "When you have children, everything changes. A lot of women know, you learn as you go through it."

Giada says that her food is inspired by her lifestyle and since having baby Jade, her recipes are even shorter than before. Giada is set to host a new show on the Food Network called Giada at Home, and she also has a new book coming out entitled Giada's Kitchen.

As for making her own baby food...Jade only began eating solids a week ago,

"So, it'll be a couple years before I understand what she likes and doesn't like, and she's got to get some teeth, too. She's missing teeth and hair. I'm hoping for both of those in the near future."

Giada is married to fashion designer, Todd Thompson, and they reside in Los Angeles.

Giada de Laurentiis, the celebrity chef on Food Network's Everyday Italian and author of two New York Times best-selling cookbooks, is on the cover of this week's Page Six Magazine. The 38-year-old new mom talks about welcoming marriage and a child into her life, her sex appeal and her future projects. Giada is married to Todd Thompson, a fashion designer for Anthropologie. The couple welcomed their first child, Jade Marie De Laurentiis Thompson, on March 29, 2008. Giada said she wasn't sure she'd ever get married or have children,
"I never cared about marriage. I was more worried about working, and really didn't think I'd have kids. Then Todd turned 40 and I guess he thought to himself, 'I think I'd like to marry Giada.'"
Giada hopes to instill an appreciation for her home country (she was born in Rome) in her daughter. Giada sings Jade the Italian lullabies that were once sang to her as a child. Her husband has his own family traditions to pass down to Jade,
"He will always tell the story of how his grandmother would take him to McDonald's and Burger King. And he says, 'I can't wait to take Jade.'"

Giada De Laurentiis Talks About Baby Jade's First Smile

Food Network chef, and new mom Giada De Laurentiis revealed how special Jade's (born March 29th) first smile was and how sleep deprivation is worth it in the long run,

"She smiled for first time yesterday! It sounds so corny – and I remember my friends telling me and me being like, 'Yeah, yeah, yeah,' but it's so special. Especially when you're sleep deprived and all you do is change poopy diapers, it's so great to get something in return."

We're glad that little Jade has inspired her mommy to make kid-friendly recipes now,

"People have been asking me for years to come up with kids' recipes and doing all that because I have a lot of kids that watch the show. And I'm thinking, 'I'm not a mom, not my thing, leave that to the moms.' And now, I'm so into it!"
