Matthew McConaughey On Parenting: We Run A Tight Ship

Matthew McConaughey is a doting dad to son Levi and 15-month-old daughter Vida. But that doesn't mean it's all fun and games – the Lincoln Lawyer star says he and partner Camila Alves aren't afraid to show some tough love.

"Discipline is very cool. We run a tight and fun ship," he said. "I'm very playful but parents have the advantage of being around for so much longer. If we're going to sit there and teach our kids that life has consequences, they're going to turn 18 and go out in their own world."

Matthew McConaughey Pays Tom Hanks To 'Babysit' His Son

Matthew McConaughey Pays Tom Hanks To 'Babysit' His Son

So apparently Tom Hanks babysits Matthew McConaughey's son Levi, 2. This is Hollywood, after all. But moms, don't start trying to book the DaVinci Code actor to watch your brood just yet – it's not what you think. According to Matthew, son Levi is mesmerized by Tom's Toy Story movies and considers them great 'babysitters'. "His main thing is Toy Story. Toy Story 1, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3 - 'Papa, I want to watch Woody, where's Woody?' And that's his thing. I mean daily. We have to kind of govern him on it a little bit because it's all the time," Matthew says.

"And so I run into Tom Hanks [on] Oscar evening and I slip him a 100 [dollar bill]. And he says 'What's that for?' And I say, 'Trust me, I owe you a lot more than that for the amount of time you've been babysitting my son Levi.'"

Matthew McConaughey: "I've Got More To Live For Now"

Lincoln Lawyer star Matthew McConaughey's life has changed since becoming a dad. But in an interview with Access Hollywood, the actor reveals that fatherhood hasn't put a damper on his adventurous spirit, which seems to be rubbing off on his 14-month-old daughter, Vida.

"I've got more to live for now, that's for sure!" the actor told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Tuesday (March 15). "Obviously, you stop living as much for 'me' and living for 'we.' Everything I'm doing, my kids are doing with me... every move I make has to do with them.

Matthew McConaughey: Kids Are "Like A Mirror"

Matthew McConaughey is seeing a lot of himself in his two children, Levi, 2, and Vida, 1. But that's not necessarily a good thing. In an interview with Access Hollywood, McConaughey reveals that his little ones have already started trying to pull off the same tricks that he did as a youngster - and they're learning at a much faster rate than dear 'ole Dad!

"Children remind you something about yourself everyday that maybe you forgot - or maybe you know, but you didn't think you were doing that till you were like 20 and they're doing it when they're like, 2," says the Lincoln Lawyer star.
